CURE ME QUICKLY

Well, let’s see…. Glad you dropped by because you get to listen to some dobro, on a new, very different version of ‘By The Sea’. https://soundcloud.com/lammbone/living-by-the-sea . When I first penned out the lyrics, there was so much going on thematically. ‘Alligator’ adds some of the original lyrics that were left out first time around as the saga continues. I had melded together experiences from my 67 years of living by cherry picking events and blending them into a singular situation, which would have make for a long song in its totality, that by nature, I shy away from, unless I am jamming. Haha. What does this all mean? First off, as an old man who finds himself reminiscing and daydreaming, there are some cathartic moments to be had in hindsight of one’s life. Looking back momentarily in the rearview is a prudent way to temper the trajectory of one’s life, especially if it has been a rocky road. Another facet of this is a personal extrication from a life one has been living, to find another way more suitable to one’s existence. In other words, the changes we make in our life to survive. There is also some grief and regret, that melt away over time. So maybe several more songs are on the horizon that elaborate on these experiences and what they mean to me. Hope you like this song. Moi je suis botaniste.
Pour mon plus grand bonheur,
au mois d'avril j'assiste
à l'éclosion des fleurs,
ce à quoi il existe
bien d'autres amateurs
et quelques hédonistes
à qui ça tient à cœur.
C'est au Jardin des Plantes
et au moment précis
que croisant un' passante
m'est arrivé ceci,
une rose pimpante
nous a dit : "Me voici !
Sentez, je suis fragrante !
Penchez-vous vers ici."
Et nous nous retrouvâmes
tous les deux étonnés
au-dessus de la fleur
en train de la humer,
narines qui se pâment,
le nez contre le nez,
séduits par son odeur,
quasiment enivrés.
Ses paupières mi-closes
m'ont donné le tournis.
Que voir là autre chose
que pétales vernis !
Ses lèvres étaient si roses,
je n'ai pu empêcher
que les miennes s'y posent
pour cueillir un baiser.
Il y en eut encore
que l'on n'a pas comptés.
Nous en fîmes éclore
toute une roseraie.
C'est qu'un parfum de rose,
ça peut ensorceler.
Subtile petit' cause
qui eut de grands effets.

The botanist and the passer-by

I'm a botanist.
To my great delight,
in April I witness
when the flowers bloom,
but there are
many other amateurs
and a few hedonists
to whom it is dear.
It's at the Jardin des Plantes
and at the precise moment
passing a passer-by
this happened to me,
a dazzling rose
said to us: “Here I am!
Smell, I'm fragrant!
Lean towards here.”
And we found ourselves
both astonished
above the flower
smelling it,
nostrils swooning,
nose to nose,
seduced by its scent,
almost intoxicated.
Her half-closed eyelids
made me dizzy.
What could I see there but
but varnished petals!
Her lips were so pink,
I couldn't stop
from touching them
for a kiss.
There were more
that we didn't count.
We made a whole rose garden
a whole rose garden.
It's just the scent of a rose,
can cast a spell.
A subtle little cause
that had great effects.
