Hotel Wrecking City Traders (HWCT) have been dislodging earwax, busting strings and sticks and blowing minds since 2007. HWCT are an instrumental noise rock duo with a heavy focus on improvisation and a love of loud volume and the psychedelic. The band has to date released an EP (2007) a full length album ‘Black Yolk’ (2008) and the brand new 7” ‘Somer/Wantok’. All through Bro Fidelity records (Australia). 

HWCT have been invited to play shows with the likes of: Ten East (USA), Zeni Geva (Japan), Black Cobra (USA) , Monarch (Fr), Grey Daturas (Aust), Nunchukka Superfly (Aust), Budd (Aust), Winnebago Deal (UK), The Hard-Ons (Aust), Electric Eel Shock (Jpn), Ryouchi (Jpn), My Disco (Aust), as well as an upcoming support slot with ex Sleep members Om (USA). Ben Wrecker also joined Winnebago Deal (UK) on drums as a last minute stand-in on their debut tour of Australia in 2008 . Winnebago Deal returned to Australia again the following year with HWCT in support once again. 

HWCT entered the studio last September to record the follow up to 2008’s ’Black Yolk (due for release later in 2010) as well as their first collaborative effort - featuring Gary Arce (Yawning Man/Ten East). An offer from Gary that eventuated from HWCT supporting Ten East on tour in Australia -Due for release later this year on Bro Fidelity Records. In the meantime they set about recording 2 new tracks, which would become the ’Somer/Wantok’ 7”, released Bro Fidelity Records. The two tracks were recorded with local engineer Jack Farley (Beaches, Spider Vomit) forcing the band to shorten their typically longer and building sounds in order to fit onto the time limitations of a 7” release. It will be stocked in selected indie retailers throughout Australia and New Zealand as well as being available for mail order as well as various distributors in both the U.S.A, & Europe. It features a deluxe gold foil-embossed band logo and is limited to 300 copies only.

Dead City Ruins have been carving their own path in the world of Hard rock. Starting out in London England and making their way home to Australia whilst playing as many down trodden, hole in the wall pubs and clubs as one band can fit into a seven day week.

Splicing the musicianship of 70's and 80's metal and the soul catching riffs of bluesy rock with the intensity and "f*ck ‘em all" attitude of punk rock, Dead City Ruins have left crowds from London (ENG) to Melbourne (AUS) reeling for more and asking themselves where the hell this band came from!

2007 saw the release of the E.P. "Lost in London" and in 2011 their debut album "MIDNIGHT KILLER" to rave reviews online and regular airplay on local radio.

In 2011 Dead City Ruins boarded their majestic vessel “The Blue Bastard” armed with sleeping bags, tents and their gear, and headed out on their first UK & European tour, travelling 28,000kms, playing 50 dates across several countries (England, Wales, France, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, Netherlands, Italy, Spain), finishing off the tour at an international Metal Music Festival in Dubai.

Ever the road warriors, Dead City Ruins headed back to Europe and the UK to do it all again from June to August 2012, following up on the buzz created from the previous tour. Rocking festival stages and supporting the likes of Mastodon, Diamond Head, Orange Goblin and Hardcore Superstar, before returning to rock as many venues that will have them in their hometown of Melbourne, Australia.

2013 brought the recording of the highly anticipated second album, working with USA Sound Engineer, James Lugo (Iron Maiden, Bruce Springsteen, Dokken) Followed by a 33 date, 13 country tour of UK, Europe & Scandinavia supporting American heavyweights Skid Row and Ugly Kid Joe to rave reviews!

Skid Row & Ugly Kid Joe personally invited DCR to support them on their Australian Tour beginning 23rd April 2014.

Duelling guitars, huge vocals and well written tracks for a live audience make these guys a force to be reckoned with. EL COLOSSO is the Melbourne live scene's premier heavy rock 4-piece in the style ball-park of Soundgarden, Guns'n'Roses, Clutch and Led Zeppelin.

EL COLOSSO is the coming together of four heavyweights of the Melbourne rock scene. Featuring the talents and eclectic influences of Benny James Pertzel (Dirty York / King Wolf), Craig Fryers (Mushroom Giant / Dive Into Ruin), Peter ‘Red Dog’ Hayden (The Hybernators / Free To Run) and Matt ‘Koops’ Cooper (Bring On The Junta). El Colosso has all the attributes of a true heavy rock band: an arse-kicking frontman with a voice as big as his persona, a wildman lead guitarist, a super-tight rhythm section, impressive harmonies and a song list consisting of all killer, no filler. The El Colosso live show is relentless energy from go-to-whoa!

The much-anticipated new album “Pathways” is simply stunning. It grabs you as soon as it starts – first track aptly named “Doom Boogie”. The white noise resolves into a sludge riff cavalcade as if summoning the dark lord up from his lair, and then kicks into foot-tapping, head-banging overdrive – and it doesn’t let up from there. The second track is also the band’s first single from the album, “Leatherhead” – a 4-minute fire-cracker that pushes you right back into your seat as if the nitro’s been suddenly triggered. It’s an album brimming with hooks and character. The final track on the album, “Moving Mountains”, is a song of epic proportion. Closing out at just under 10 minutes it fittingly book-ends the album, featuring Dave Ferguson (Fuck The Fitzroy Doom Scene) sharing the lead guitar parts.

The album was recorded at Headgap Studios by Finn Keane, with vocals, additional tracking and mixing by Jez Giddings and Craig Harnath at Hothouse Studios. Mastering by Jack The Bear.
