Alright Despite You

I never intended to write a love song! However, I ended up with one that I quite like. 

It came about after I had been to a spate of weddings. I noticed that at each of these weddings, whoever was preaching seemed to read from the same book in the Bible. They all read from 2 Corinthians, chapter 13 which lays out God's definition of what love is about. 

Two things caught my attention; firstly, God's definition of love differs quite a bit from what we get shown in the general media. Secondly I noticed that alot of the sentences rhymed or could be made to just by playing about with the order of the words a bit. 

This was enough to spark my interest and I started to see if I could turn it into a song. The music for it started off as a three note melody, this took a while to turn into the full song here. Once again there was never a bassist about when I needed one so I had to play that as well as program the drums, play the guitar and synth parts, sing, record, mix ....etc, etc.  

Any comments welcome.

My name is Stewart Henderson and I'm a guitarist with an unhealthy love of audio production and music technology. 

A long long time ago, (Early on my musical journey) I was given the best advice for a musician. Learn to play in as many styles as you can. This advice came from a couple of session guitarists I met. Like many young guitarists I had started out playing rock and metal,  I decided to take the advice I was offered and do just that. 

I played in a few function bands, as well as other bands.  Since then I have performed on tour dates with artists such as American singer/songwriter Bill Drake, and rising acts such as Abigail Hubbard. I have also played in recording sessions with artists such as South African music producer Nick Coatzee.

I have played throughout the UK, as well as France and Germany.  I have played in a wide variety of venues including concert halls, a ship and a prison. I have even got to stage dive in Canterbury Cathedral (but that's a different story).

Having an interest in both performing and audio production, I set up a home studio and  have started to compose for media. So far my works have been used in a short animation piece, and a jingle for a local radio station. I have also had a commission to compose a theme for a series of childrens stories.

As well as this I regularly work with various music service providers such as Kent Music and Pie Factory Music. Through this I have worked with several musicians from various genres such as Harry Shotta, Spooka, Tali, Erb'n'Dub, The Assembly Worker, and Robin File (Audioweb, Badly Drawn Boy, Finlay Quay).
