From breaking through in the early 90s right when things were still done wild, helming the legendary Lost club nights from 1992 onward, onto becoming a pioneering figure of the UK's underground, it's safe to say Steve Bicknell ticks all the boxes of a self-made myth in the scene. Tirelessly pushing the boundaries of techno as we know it, the British don has been carving out his name in gold letters amongst the pantheon of DJs capable to evolve and transcend both themselves and their audience through the cathartic power of music. Always a step ahead, Bicknell treats us to two hours of resolutely immersive and achingly powerful soul-search, seamlessly criss-crossing our brains with his top-of-the-range anti-bullshit techno medicine. Hailing from Tel Aviv & Recently Relocated to Belgium, Yogg (Yuval Goren) was born in the 90’ and delved into the city’s vibrant clubbing scene at an early age. Trained as a Jazz musician & Keep on exploring different musical territories and boundaries. His soundscapes are characterized by a unique sound design, impact cuts of body-slamming techno with deep synths and sleek rhythms.

Yogg has made a name for himself over the years, committing to exciting sound explorations, in-depth projects, releases & remixes. He released on various labels such as Non Series, Illegal Alien, 30D Records, Counterchange, Gradient, Tales Collective, and others. His DJ sets, energetic, mind-bending, and wrapped in multilayered textures of ambient were described as ‘sounds that turn your mind inside out with its long and hypotonic grooves’ and earned him a spot in prestigious clubs around the world such as Berghain, Tresor, Concrete, Village Underground, Contact and several more.

Yogg was a resident & curator at The Block Club for several years and a resident DJ at Homopatik & AVADON. Since 2014, his label Parallax has been showcasing cutting-edge voices of Local and global contemporary techno.

Joel Mull joins for DifferentSound Podcast #240.

Joel Mull's career spans over three decades. With a background studying classical music, singing in choirs and playing in bands, Joel found electronic music at a young age as a source of freedom. His frst experience came from DJ’ing in the chill-out areas of rave parties in his native Stockholm during the early 90’s. With his roots from Germany, Hamburg, he moved to the city in 1994, and worked as a resident DJ for 3 years at one of the biggest techno clubs in Germany, Unit Club. This was an important period for him and as a DJ; It learned him how to control the energy of the night on the dance foor, from warm up sets to 10h marathon sets. With releases on music labels worldwide along with Cari Lekebusch, Robert Leiner, Adam Beyer and Jesper Dahlbäck he counts to the frst wave of Swedish techno producer who became known around the world as the "Swedish techno sound". He has produced over 100 releases and under various names such as Icarus, Gotzkowsky and most recent under his alias Damm. He often refers to himself and his craft as a sound architect, and if you’ve ever experienced his club sets, you’ll understand why. Under his ambient and electronica alias Damm, Joel revives one of his earliest aliases and expands upon this discipline even further.

With the date and lineup set for the momentous fifth year edition of Junction 2, we are pleased to announce the launch of the Junction 2 mix series. Keeping your listening needs topped as the countdown to 4th June begins, we will be bringing you exclusive mixes from artists that have dazzled at the festival before and thoses who are on our radar for the future.

Kicking off the series is DJ, producer and underground hero, Ashley Burchett aka @ashley-phase. A cornerstone of the European scene for the last 2 decades and a leading face of Belgian techno giant, Token, Ashley’s style of full-throttle, dark, rolling techno has gifted us dancefloor gems like Binary Opposition,The Bwiti Initiate, Plateau Station, Border Country ft. Underworld and one of the albums of the summer in WSNWG004 with Rødhåd. A standout performer at Junction 2 2017, the London local locks in another power hour of entrancing, stripped-back, low-end rumblers.
