Hosting Wanderers every other sunday: Wanderers focuses on the transportive aspect of sound, inviting artists that have a strong affinity with this aspect to wander the rich plains of sound, in whatever direction they want to go. The goal is to create a diverse, imaginative and adventurous collection of journeys and stories, in which one could get lost and discover endless new things. It also functions as a platform for artists to wander, discover, and play in the process of making an episode.

A new mix will be uploaded twice a month on a sunday. The episodes will be streamed on microwave.live the day after.

Après des années d’errance dans la ville natale bien-aimée de Lars, Hank, il était temps pour lui d’explorer la ville et la vie nocturne d’Utrecht. C'est là qu'il a commencé à organiser Disko Disko avec ses amis il y a 5 ans et à en apprendre davantage sur toutes sortes de musiques et de personnes. En plus d'organiser des fêtes, sa recherche constante de musique n'a cessé de croître, au point qu'il a décidé d'acheter 2 platines et une table de mixage. Avance rapide : Lars est désormais l'un des visages familiers de la vie nocturne d'Utrecht, devant ou derrière le stand, toujours souriant avec une bière à la main.

After years of wandering through Lars’ beloved hometown Hank, it was time for him to explore the city and nightlife of Utrecht. This is where he started organizing Disko Disko with his friends 5 years ago and learning more about all kinds of music and people. Besides organizing parties, his everlasting search for music started growing and growing, to the point that he decided to buy 2 turntables and a mixer. Fast forward: Lars is now one of the familiar faces of the Utrecht nightlife scene, in front or behind the booth, always smiling with a beer in his hand.

Wanderers 67 is made by Arieh Chrem aka Cartopol, a Peruvian-Spanish composer and DJ, born in Lima, Peru, and currently based in Amsterdam. He is the label boss of Anekumena Tapes, and has keen ear for sounds that are on the edge of club and non-club music. 

Cartopol: 'For as long as I've been DJing, one thing I found striking is how a lot of modern DJ  equipment and software takes the idea of equally spaced beats in 4/4 time as standard, an almost all-encompassing reality to which music conforms. Rhythm that escapes this frame fascinates me. It can drift between tempos and divide itself infinitely into equal and unequal beats. With some sleight-of-hand you can even drift into completely different territory without realising.

I've been collecting music that plays with these ideas for a while now, a lot of which isn't designed for the dancefloor, so when the invite to make a mix for Wanderers came I knew immediately what I wanted to do. Layered tempos, polyrhythmic transitions and completely dissolved irregular cycles, it's all assembled in there. This mix also contains a lot of unreleased music by friends and some material from myself, it was a treat to put it together.

Huge thanks to Daniel for the invite and to the Stëfan Däniëls and Hervé for letting me do justice to my idea and record it on three decks in their beautiful Noord Space. Enjoy "Rhythm is a liquid".'

Wanderers 68 is up! Get in the right mood today for 'Muziek der Sferen' by Victor Bontje ( @victorbontje ).  Victor is a sound technician and occasional DJ. I got a tip about the sounds of Victor, and after listening to his Radio TNP show, I really wanted him to make an episode. Well here we are :)

Victor: 'When I was a child, I wanted to become a wanderer when I grew up because of the freedom and adventure. So I made this ambient piece, wandering in search of freedom and adventure. It is a non-linearly created audio collage of existing music, original compositions, and themes. It was made using a modular synth, a sampler, and a turntable.'

A new Wanderers! One of 4 summer stories, that will focus on a tranquil summer mood. For episode 69, Bangkok based DJ and Kommunal Radio resident Versatility will take the reigns.
