While on Jam Cruise 13 (2015), Derek Vincent Smith AKA Pretty Lights uploaded 10 tracks straight from his laptop to PLF member Cassie Blochinger's flash drive. Some are debatably finished, some are breaks from which he would sculpt a finished track, and some are right in the middle. The tracks themselves are not necessarily all new, but still have not seen an official release.

Origin of the Track:
Ciutadella de Menorca is a port city on the west coast of Menorca (Minorca), one of the Spanish Balearic Islands. It’s known for its old quarter and medieval streets. Joe Tatton has travelled to this Mediterranean paradise often to visit his friend and bandmate in the New Mastersounds, Bassist Pete Shand, who resides on the island.

As 2020 comes to close we are taking stock of life as it compares to a year ago. Nothing was as it seemed then, and likely nothing is now either. We are all deep inside a massive collective psychedelic journey. Good trip bad trip, all our paths overlap. 

On our new album, out now, we explore the idea that we are at the crux of a significant leg of this journey.  Like that moment in most every trip when you are faced with a fear or anxiety and must make a decision on how to proceed, the crux presents both crisis and opportunity.

The featured track here, "Common Ground” is about finding a place for us all to meet in these divisive times in hopes that we can unify and find a path forward.

Cooperation, communication and dialogue are key to unity and resilience.

On the Crux album we are taking musical chances. Some of the most personal songs we’ve written mixed with raw sketched out ideas, to full blown improvised compositions. This is our way of processing the radical changes that have become routine for all of us. This album represents our subconscious hopes and fears for the time ahead.
