I DJ + produce as Stormfield, perform and teach audio visual live sets as Combat A.V. 
I also run the label Combat Recordings. Scorn, Milanese, Autechre and Gridlock have been my biggest influences. 
I'm half of Fausten with Monster X. I also dislike writing my own bio.

Depuis le début des années 90, DJ Phonetics incarne l'esprit underground et expérimental de la scène techno. Armé de ses platines vinyles, il a débuté son voyage musical à une époque où la techno était encore en pleine émergence, façonnant son identité à travers les sons bruts et les énergies libératrices des clubs et des raves du nord de l'Europe. Ces lieux, véritables temples de la contre-culture, ont forgé son approche unique et immersive de la musique électronique.

Rapidement, DJ Phonetics s'est rapproché des milieux alternatifs et underground, où la créativité et l'audace sont reines. Son style, toujours en évolution, se caractérise par une exploration profonde et hallucinogène de la techno, naviguant entre des univers mentaux, atmosphériques et parfois sombres. Des rythmes hypnotiques de la techno traditionnelle aux basses puissantes de la hard techno et du hardcore, en passant par les expérimentations de la tekno, il a toujours su repousser les limites pour offrir des sets envoûtants et intenses.

Aujourd'hui, DJ Phonetics a suivi l'évolution des machines et des technologies, passant au numérique pour ses performances tout en gardant une approche profondément inspirée par l'esprit vinyle. Mélangeant le meilleur des deux mondes, il utilise les outils modernes pour créer des sets fluides et dynamiques, tout en conservant cette texture organique et cette sensibilité tactile qui caractérisent le mixage sur vinyle. Son amour pour le grain et l'imperfection du vinyle transparaît dans chaque transition, chaque choix de morceau, et chaque atmosphère qu'il construit.

Ses sets actuels explorent des territoires plus introspectifs et planants, naviguant entre l'ambient, la XP techno et des paysages sonores sombres et immersifs. Sa musique, toujours en mouvement, reflète une quête constante d'évasion et de transcendance, invitant son public à plonger dans des états de conscience élargis.

Que ce soit dans un club intimiste, une rave clandestine ou un festival en plein air, DJ Phonetics continue de captiver son public avec des performances qui défient les conventions et célèbrent l'esprit libre de la techno. Since the early 90s, DJ Phonetics has embodied the underground and experimental spirit of the techno scene. Starting out with vinyl turntables, he began his musical journey at a time when techno was still emerging, shaping his identity through the raw sounds and liberating energy of clubs and raves across Northern Europe. These places, true temples of counterculture, forged his unique and immersive approach to electronic music.

Quickly, DJ Phonetics gravitated toward alternative and underground circles, where creativity and boldness reign supreme. His ever-evolving style is characterized by a deep, hallucinogenic exploration of techno, navigating between mental, atmospheric, and sometimes dark universes. From the hypnotic rhythms of traditional techno to the powerful basslines of hard techno and hardcore, and through the experiments of tekno, he has always pushed boundaries to deliver captivating and intense sets.

Today, DJ Phonetics has embraced the evolution of machines and technology, transitioning to digital for his performances while maintaining a deeply vinyl-inspired approach. Blending the best of both worlds, he uses modern tools to create fluid and dynamic sets, while preserving the organic texture and tactile sensibility that define vinyl mixing. His love for the grit and imperfection of vinyl shines through in every transition, track selection, and atmosphere he builds.

His current sets explore more introspective and immersive territories, drifting between ambient, XP techno, and dark, expansive soundscapes. His music, always in motion, reflects a constant quest for escape and transcendence, inviting his audience to dive into expanded states of consciousness.
