Hi guys, and welcome back to another IntransikBeats podcast, and this time we have the pleasure to have Xiang from Chengdu, South West of China.
Raised with a classic musical background and attracted to the energy of electronic sound structures, Xiang fuses samples from life and nature with a range of synthesizers, loops and digital effects to create spacious electronic soundscapes.
In 2015, she and her friend Su founded their own electronic music label called ‘ATMEN’ with the aim of bringing freshness into the techno and minimal aesthetic. They also experiment with other forms of creative expression giving dimension and visuals to their sound. All links to her work and label are in the description as usual as we fade into this rare musical trip introduced with a track from SNTS called Scene II. Enjoy :)

In Freudian psychoanalytic theory it represents the death drive (German: Todestrieb) the drive towards death, self-destruction and the return to the inorganic. “The hypothesis of a death instinct, the task of which is to lead organic life back into the inanimate state”. The death drive opposes Eros, the tendency toward survival, propagation, sex, and other creative, life-producing drives.” I remember I read once you had a taste first for black/Death metal, hardcore/ doom styles :D What brought you to take the step toward Techno and mixing ?

I’m still listening to Black Metal at home. The repetitive character of the music and the soundscapes are quite similar to the techno I like/play. I just didn’t know this kind of music even existed: i was living in a tiny city where the club culture had mostly bad music to offer, which kind of killed it for me. It's only after visiting Berlin on a reg. basis that I realized there was a different scene out there. That's how it started...

You love hypnotic vibes, have a taste for dreamy atmospheres as well as you explore a more experimental side. How do you project yourself in the future ?
I don’t want to limit myself. I play what I like and what fits to the situation. Whether if it's ambient, experimental, deeper techno or peak time. We actually plan to do more experimental events with ESCH (THNTS' podcast & events Serie in BN, showcasing both local/international talents). 
A usual club night is just not the place for that... I also started another Serie at Urban Spree, more Postpunk-ish, Industrial techno, Acid, Disco and Wave. All kinds of music I love but that i don’t find myself playing often.

About ESCH precisely can you tell us a bit more about it and your point of view about the current scene ?
ESCH is quite young but I’m very happy about how it turned out. Ofc we're bound to the economical context but we try to focus on a mixture of acknowledged artists + under-the-radar talents that we think deserve more attention, or simply love. Which leads us to your question about the scene in BN ;) it's very big and diverse, but unfortunately not as open minded as they proclaim. Or as I would like it to be. When playing in other cities with a smaller scene I sometimes get the feeling that they're more open to my sound.

Whether doused in the grit of his hometown Glasgow, or expanded by the widescreen vistas of his current base, Barcelona, the music of Darren Roberts has asserted it´s uniqueness within his preferred form of expression, rolling and tunneling techno, strong on propulsion and atmosphere. Naming the project Deepbass was a strong statement of intent and commitment to a sound of his own, from the start. That he has in fact established it and remains on a path of constant perfection of it, is indicative of Darren´s personality and talent.
This consistent path has seen Deepbass put out records on labels such as Edit Select Records, Aconito Records, Dynamic Reflection and Soma, all the while enjoying a steady rise in recognition both with audience and peers. Along the way, he found in Italian producer Andrea Deplano, most widely known as Ness, a perfect foil for his vision of techno, with both collaborating on releases which displayed uncanny compatibility in sound between them. This commitment to the deeper, hypnotic side of techno is further proved by his own label, Informa Records, where releases by names like Reggy Van Oers, nAX_Acid, Claudio PRC, Takaaki Itoh, Ness, NX1, Hironori Takahashi are constant highlights for those who crave expansive and engrossing soundscapes.
What stands out from his production and performances is that Deepbass creates something identifiably his own, but refuses to ever be limited by it or to get comfortable repeating just one thing. Instead, he takes what´s already his own and streamlines it, sharpens it and nuances it. The origin and destination might be constant, but the path it takes and how the journey feels is ever-changing.

Deepbass RTS.FM Budapest 03.12.2016

The last installment of this year 2016 more comes as a surprise.. Was hard letting go of that opportunity to welcome the italian Duo composed by Andrea V. & Andrea C. (based in Berlin atm). VII Circle always pushed their music onto the scene with a sincere approach, made of deep sounds veiled with a distinctive elegance. Their sound is a mixture of hypnotic --- leaning toward melodic influences  --- landscapes, where emotions bloom softly but firmly. Slightly obsessive (pads) and cavernous but never falling into pathos, this mix resonates like an emotional trip into past (nostalgia) and present moment at the same time. 

An nice Xmas Gift to thank All Prior Act's listeners who decided to embark with us since start on our sonic journey, as this mix also calls on some of my own past influences i can't deny.  Pretty sure this set will please many of you, and so are we!

Born and educated in Rome, the young Italian producer Luigi Tozzi was strongly influenced by the roman scene and its local artists, many of whom gave a crucial contribution to the birth and growth of the deep techno sound. Luigi’s music has so far been released on the established label Dynamic Reflection as well as setting a regular cooperation with the very promising and mysterious techno label Hypnus Records from Sweden, where he found a platform that inspired him to develop his style. Melting the tribal and hypnotic elements of techno with the atmospheric and emotional side of ambient music he is making his own path in the world of electronics. Recently this has gotten him in contact with Dino Sabatini which led to the opportunity to join Outis Music that has released well known artists such as Modern Heads, Brando Lupi, Donato Dozzy among others.
