Nelliwinne Mohottalalage Suraj Madhushan Jayawardhana, professionally known as SRJ, is a Sri Lankan electronic dance music (EDM) producer and DJ, born on December 3rd, 1999. He's best known for combining emotional melodies with high-energy dance tracks, creating a sound that connects deeply with listeners while lighting up the stage. Suraj produces music across genres like Progressive House, Bass House, Electro House, and Future Bass.

Since childhood, Suraj had a strong passion for music. As a kid, he loved playing his little keyboard that his dad bought for him — even though he didn’t really know how to play it at the time. In 2010, Suraj chose music as his main subject in school over all other subjects. He faced many challenges but also earned a ton of achievements along the way. During his school years, he studied both oriental and western music.

At the age of 13, Suraj got the chance to perform in a local musical band as a keyboardist. He worked on it for two years before stepping away. After leaving the band, he had to take a break from music to focus on his higher education, as he moved to another college. That moment marked a pause in his musical journey — but not the end.

When he was 17, Suraj heard an EDM song for the first time and instantly fell in love with the style. As he explored more, he discovered Faded by Alan Walker — and that became the turning point of his life. Suraj quickly became a big fan of Alan Walker and started making music like Alan Walker.

But learning music production was a huge challenge. However, after a few years of hard work, Suraj learned music production by himself step by step — and started creating real things.

In 2020, Suraj released his first EDM song titled "Universe" under his first artist name "SpekzZ". He went on to release a few more tracks under SpekzZ, including "The Future", "Gravity", "Explotion", and "Never Know". But he wasn’t fully satisfied — he felt a strong desire to create and share music under his real name, to truly represent who he was as an artist. So, he decided to stop releasing music as SpekzZ. 

In 2023, he made his debut as Suraj Madhushan with the release of "Walking Down", an electro house track that quickly captured the attention of many listeners. It was a great start for him. Since then, he has released multiple official tracks and is currently working as a full-time musician.

Currently, he releases music under the name SRJ. After three previous brand name changes, SRJ has become his final and official musical identity.
