On our recent tour to Canada & North America this year, Griff & myself had the pleasure of playing at this awesome little festival called "Ewoka Kulana" in the deep forests of Washington state, Seattle. The theme was Star wars meets hawaiin disco..

Apart from performing our solo sets, we got the opportunity to play a 2 hour b2b set on the saturday afternoon which was rad! The day was heavily consumed of Margarita's, so there might be a few wonky bits and bobs in there as the mix goes on, but was lots of fun :)!!

What happens if you take 3 great jazz musicians, put them in recording studio, and throw electronic music at them?

This project was an experiment into exactly that, with my long running collaborator Kathrin deBoer on vocals, and the greatest trumpet player I've yet to hear - Quentin Collins, with Jack Stevens on bass for this one track from the EP too. 

We made some recordings where Kathrin and Quentin played at the same time, which was really interesting - I love the way you can hear Kathrin and Quentin almost talking to each other during the track, they sort of imitate and bounce off each other as they go along. They were having a lot of fun during the recordings and I think it comes through.

The fun we were having making the recordings was aided by the fact that Gearbox records (who are releasing the EP 6th Oct on vinyl, and 3rd Nov on digital) had provided Mark Ronson's recording studio for us to work in, so it was a pleasure all round.

There are 3 more tracks to come from the release, 2 ambient, and one absolute abomination where I wanted to see what would happen if I made the most f*&ked up track I could and then asked them to improvise over it - more clips and info coming soon.

If you want to catch Quentin Collins playing, he does regular gigs in London at Ronnie Scotts, amongst other places. And Kathrin deBoer has also launched a new solo project under her name, which is also touring and highly recommended.

O is the sixth album by Amritone. It is a splendid blend of electronic music styles, full of the author's bold experiments in rhythmic and harmonic forms, and yet it maintains crystal sound transparency. Psybass and drum-n-bass percussions and bass lines are skilfully woven into the sound textures of psychill and ambient. Each track of the album represents a story of its own. The author describes the concept of O as reflections about searching for the light in the emptiness of the reality, the disappearance of the ego and its rebirth in the divine form.
