The Gym Of Obsolete Technology is a group exhibition at the Amsterdam artist space W139.  We took our Gym (in which Strange Boutique are participating artists) for a little trip into the digital-occult and the techno-pastoral on Red Light Radio. With curator and artist Margarita Osipian as your personal cosmic data trainer its time for an intergalactic work-out!

For our second installment of the daydreamin' podcast series we welcome Vector Dancer (@vector93) from Bielefeld. He provides us a mix from Tribal to Ambient, rich in textures and full of lush sounds.

daydreamin' w/ Vector Dancer

The form of an object, outside the dream, is beholden to the dreamer. But as somnolence dawns and the dream’s tapestry takes shape, the object’s true nature blooms like a night flower with tranquil hues unreal, lulling the dreamer deeper still.

Forms, as a series of musical collections, opts for measured themes unique to each edition. Meditative, with carefully constructed folds, the compilation is sewn together with the intent to capture, and make tangible, concepts in motion.

For the third  edition  of our compilation series, we invited twelve artists to find their voice between ambient and folk stylings to capture the ethereal, macabre panorama of lullabies. Gentle in force and colored by soaring, haunting melodies, each composition straddles restful fantasy and a calm, quiet alertness.

New artists to the series Stefanie Santana, Clare Wieck, Genevieve Artadi (of KNOWER), and Rushing Silver hide somber undertones beneath beautiful melodies where Neck, Zenizen, Fishdoll, and Real Clothes channel baroque ballads. In contrast, label mainstays Sontag Shogun, Annabel (lee), and Tom Terrien align with the likes of film composer Zoe Polanski to score soulful, languid landscapes through swaying, minimal structures at a gentle pace.

Spanning 12 pieces over 46 minutes, “Occult Lullabies” nudges the threshold of waking life. The comprising voices, though disparate in origin, find a spiritual connection within an amalgamation of joy, solemnity, and nurturing.

Witches In Space Vol.2

Idle Press boss, DJ Sundae has crafted together a beautiful hour long mix for the 14th edition of the podcast series.

Sundae's Idle Press began by repressing the 1982 Pitch single - 'What Am I Gonna Do For Fun' and has gone on to release music from Smagghe & Cross, and recently an edits compilation of proto-trance tracks by Alexis Le-Tan. 

Alongside organising this stream of amazing releases on Idle Press, in 2016 Sundae put together a brilliant compilation of folk-pop, and new wave tracks, selected with fellow frenchman Julien Dechery. 'Sky Girl' has been noted as an essential album of the last few years. 

Sundae's impeccable taste can also be heard on his regular radio show, No Weapon is Absolute, which he co hosts with Cosmo Vitelli. Throughout this mix we are given a look into Sundaes unique taste that we have admired for a number of years.
