Anyone know or think this song is about Sage's (Paul's) stepfather Ray who stepped in to raise Uncle Sage?

A sage with gratitude!!!! I can identify. I mourned over the loss of many people by using liquid handcuffs and now i operate as if each person i lost gave me the exact strength that i needed to overcome the reasons i used the substance and its substitute. Now i realise that my birthday is no longer 9/11/84 but 02/14/2014. Your bitter was so sweet, but your gratitude is what i need now that I've seeked refuge yet can find no shelter
