Carl Craig Essential Mix from 26th Feb 2011. Except with all that crap removed which spoils the whole mix in general. That's right; no more "You're listening to the Essential Mix; tonight with "whoever""..... No more "eseennnnnntial.......eseennnnnnntial" going on in the background for five minutes. Just nearly two hours of the music. And in 320kbps as well. Some of the edits are a little noticeable (as you'd expect with about 18 various interuptions throughout the mix) I'm afraid but most of the time they're OK.

Our special guest  on this week’s Cadenza Music Source to Cycle podcast is Sascha Dive.

The Frankfurt based DJ and producer is best recognized as the owner of Deep Vibes Recordings, the label he has run since 2007, and has become home to not only his own productions, but that of artists like Brothers’ Vibe, Robert Dietz, Amir Alexander and Matthew Dear.  Since his early years then, he’s made a big impression on the international house and techno scenes, proving himself a highly skilled and musically entertaining DJ, and a go- to producer for many.  His music has also been released by labels like Tsuba, Drumpoet Community, Oslo and many more.  A new release is due on Sven Vath’s Cocoon label also this month.

LOVE INTERNATIONAL COMEDOWN MIX - NEIL DIABLO

There are many moments which can be recalled from the days of summer past. The dying embers of the sun would soon leave this place but for now they would dance in the golden glow beneath the trees. A roar would erupt from a small crowd as a drum banged between the leaves. Feet moved pacily in time and "Ciquita" they would chant euphorically for the whole damn world to hear. This one was an ode to summer madness, an ode to summer dreaming, an ode to summer past.

Ransom Note's very own "Ciquita" has been doing the rounds this summer and has appeared in some far flung locations. Bawrut has soundtracked our 2016, we're not sure about yours. However, now, as we enter the dying embers of the breezy, sun kissed months we unveil a new approach. Our good friend Moscoman steps up to deliver a remix to see in the Autumn as part of a new EP.

Solid Steel (31st March) We're delighted to welcome Little Dragon to Solid Steel this week. The Grammy-nominated band have announced their long-awaited new album ‘Season High’, which is out on April 14th on Because Music http://little-dragon.net They recently dropped the track 'Sweet' from the album and before that the track 'High', which saw the remix by Michael Uzowuru & Jeff Kleinman getting it's Premiere by Pharrell on his Beats 1 show. The band are set to embark on an extensive World tour in support of ‘Season High’, which includes Coachella, Parklife, Sonar, Bestival and a date at the Roundhouse in London in October. Music featured in the mix includes Big Sean, Jimi Hendrix, Johnnie Frierson, Martyn, the Kaytranada mix for Teedra Moses and Bryson Tiller. Brooklyn’s Jacques Renault is a dance music polyglot. In his long career he has undertaken, and succeeded with, many different projects. Whether working solo or collaboratively, turning out original productions or cultured edits, DJing around the world or running his labels On The Prowl and Let’s Play House, he always comes correct. His sound is impossible to pin down as evidenced by his broad and sweeping DJ sets which range from Italo to techno, Afro to disco and back again. 

With this mix we find him in fine form across three enthralling and widescreen hours that showcase his democratic approach to digging. Effortlessly drifting from slow and tropical grooves to party starting disco, it embodies the sound of summer, of late afternoon BBQs and sunset sessions before getting more groove driven later on. Bubbly, breezy house becomes the order of the night, and it’s all underpinned by a loose and playful sense of love for the good times.

Starting with this recording, we will from time to time share live-mixes from our own Dekmantel Soundsystem, consisting of founders Thomas Martojo and Casper Tielrooij. Operating as DJ duo, in addition to running the label, and subsequent festival series, they have been touring around the world in the past few years. Now we are opening up Pandora’s box, giving access to some recordings taken from select shows; a journey into some of their most intrepid sets.

The first in the series is a four-hour odyssey of finely-tuned, dance music craftsmanship. Recorded at Glasgow’s renowned Sub Club in December 2016, the sold-out show came at the end of the Dekmantel Soundystem ‘all-night’ tour that saw them take in 11 major cities throughout Europe and the middle east. Playing at the institutional Subculture party –first set up by residents Harri and Dom- the duo, worked up a set of disco, Brazilian music, electro, wave next to house and techno that features a fine balance of undiscovered gems, and party classics. With a gradual, progression in energy, it’s easily possible to imagine yourself letting loose on the dancefloor. 

“Within the first hour the audience was already jumping up and down, gladly fist-pumping the ceiling,” the Dekmantel duo recall proving the fine reputation of the club and it’s loyal visitors. Spoiler alert: “The sound technician forbid us to play another track after Gary Numan, as -in his opinion - it was the perfect ending to the night.”
