"Sometimes I set out with a clear technical objective in mind, sometimes less so. A technical objective just means I know the range of what I want to play and have a vague idea how I'm going to execute it.

This set wasn't like that at all. It was only about reaching a vibe and switching through the emotions I would want to experience towards the end of a festival. I was not concerned about each mix being smooth as a petal, my concern was only where we were going. 

Despite the mix suffering the cold coat of being a basic output job - no crowd, no audible insults - the warm, sloppy heart is there somehow. You can hear the cuts and shifts being driven by the faces in front. This is a simple back and forth between me and them, no more, no less.

Ring, ring! Hot on the heels of the transcendental and mystical “Vibe Telemetry” long-player of the man like Telephones, we proudly present: Vibe Remixes. Some of you might notice the irony between the lines. A producer who goes by the name of Call Super is remixing an artist known as Telephones. But, we rather rivet you on his 8:59 long skippy dub journey that recalls (pun intended) an atmosphere that could be found in the space between Smith & Mighty, the LTJ Bukem of his youth, Italian house records, British Balearics and bass affine music (of whatever providence). A magical mystery. But we don't hang up here. DJ Fett Burger is treating the other side and only he himself knows how he made what he did. 14:51 min of almost every style ever invented in the scope of house music. Designed for people blessed with an everlastingly short attention span and DJs on the lookout for a toilet break and a coffee break or whichever break, it leaves its listener speechless. And: it's so much fun that once it's over, you want to redial Fett Burger's number immediately.

2017 sees Dekmantel celebrating its 10th anniversary. A decade ago, the Amsterdam crew threw their first party in the Dutch capital; two years later Dekmantel Records followed. To celebrate this special occasion, the label will release ten EPs over the course of 2017 – every month one, starting in March, with the first EP dropping today - from artists that have shaped them into what they are today. On the bill are, amongst others, Ricardo Villalobos, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Fatima Yamaha, Legowelt, and Tom Trago.

For this series, Dekmantel invited producers who are close to their hearts, have been with them since day one or made a big musical impact on the crew. Amongst these are longtime friends like Juju & Jordash, Palms Trax, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Joy Orbison and Young Marco. Apart from these seasoned names, it’s with great pleasure to have welcome newcomers including Huerco S, Ectomorph, Shanti Celeste, Syracuse and Levon Vincent onboard. Last but certainly not least; a couple of stone cold geniuses will be responsible for a track on the series as well. Amongst them are Can percussionist Burnt Friedman, Donato Dozzy, Tony Allen, The Egyptian Lover and Ricardo Villallobos. 

The second special EP comes from striking electronic artist Call Super—who returns after his 2016 EP on the label—and party starting house star Shanti Celeste who makes her debut after many great EPs on labels like Apron and Secretsundaze. Call Super offers ‘Fluenka Spoke’, a multi layered rack with shimmering synths and pads and glitchy beats down low. Shanti’s ‘Hinoki’ then shows off the producer’s more techno side with a tough and urgent banger that trippy sound design and soul infused chords all urging you to dance.

Celebrating its first decade in existence, Dekmantel has commissioned a 10-part EP series that features a staggeringly impressive list of contributors, from Levon Vincent and Motor City Drum Ensemble to Joy Orbison and even Afrobeat legend Tony Allen. These EPs will continue to surface throughout the year, but the second installment is slated to arrive on April 19 with tracks from Shanti Celeste and Call Super, whose celestial techno epic "Fluenka Spoke" debuted on Red Bull Radio's First Floor, our weekly look at what's new in electronic music.
