Opening your dance music account with a remix of one our all time absolute faves is never a bad place to start. 

Psychemagik's vinyl re-edit of  Fleetwood Mac's 'Everywhere' at the end of 2010 not only worked its way into the bags of veterans such as Greg Wilson and Tom Middleton, it etched their names into the consciousness of clubbers (old and new) awake to fresh, funk-laden forms of disco-inflected deep house.

Ever since, it's been plain sailing for a partnership from the UK who've committed a string of re-edits onto their eponymous imprint as well as taking remix credit for the likes of Azari & III, Metronomy and Crystal Fighters. It wasn't long until productions from scratch began to appear, their inaugural Crosstown Rebels release 'Black Noir Schwarz' surfacing with Tensnake and Mineo remixes in February of this year.

But, perhaps, it's the duo's DJ sets that've benefited them most. Throwing together everything from vintage disco to Chicago house classic and more stripped back fodder, they're crate-digging wit has earned them life-long memories at summer festivals and sunset boat parties all over. This diverse collection of acid-inspired house is a prime example of why.

This edit of Yves Simon ‘Au Pays Des Merveilles De Juliet’ first appeared as a free download for a super limited time via the Psychemagik soundcloud page. Blink and you missed it. 

Now, after a long wait and many licensing delays the edit sees an official release on vinyl via Leng Records. Played by many, the edit takes all the elements of Yves Simon’s original, stretching it out from two minutes to over seven making it an instant classic. 

The 12” comes one sided with an acid etched B-side and a plain sleeve.

Wax On is our vinyl-only mix series, presenting the electronic music scene’s true crate diggers. Number 03 sees Going Good Records boss Brian Not Brian take the helm.

A true DJs DJ, and, as an unequivocal vinyl enthusiast, Brian Not Brian is an absolute doozy as the next in our Wax On series.

Real name Brian Morrison, the Belfast-born Brixton-based selector is revered for the era spanning sets that have seen him spin his annual slot at Farr Festival this summer, hit Dekmantel Selectors and Meadows in the Mountains, as well as tour across Australia through December.

His encyclopedic knowledge of music old and new also saw Morrison launch Going Good Records with his close friend and collaborator, Salik Z. Having released music from The Mystic Jungle Tribe, Nummer (if you missed ‘Second Sight’, don’t sleep) and Ewan Jonson, Morrison jokingly says the project is an “attempt at trying to look cool while making loads of money off the backs of other talented individuals.”

Morrison recorded his Wax On mix in what he says is his favourite place to play records: his front room with his girlfriend. “There's no-one asking for track IDs or taking pictures. No bouncers or bad vibes,” he laughs. “And if one wants one can indulge in strange dancing without repercussions.”

He also says there’s no set concept to the mix. “It’s just a free-wheeling jaunt through some dusty, well thumbed 12"s and LPs that I currently like, new and old,” he concludes. “Grab a stack, feel it out and hit record really.”

R&S welcomes Acid Mondays for a 12" of lysergic house music that reaches far into the outer cosmos. 
Formed "somewhere in the 5th dimension” Acid Mondays is the cosmic coalition of fellow psychonauts Negghead (Dan Ward) and Lex Wolf (Alex Wolfenden).  

Repeated transformative visits to Ibiza culminated in landing regular slots at Circoloco where they have been testing this tune in the dance all Summer long. 

‘Universal Rhythm’, their latest interstellar dispatch and debut on R&S is their finest work to date. An anthemic paean to the cosmos that features an impassioned spoken word missive from shamanistic MC Shovell, impressively recorded in a single take, making the case for the universality of experience and oneness of all beings.  

Latin rhythms fuse with a driving Fender Rhodes lick (provided by JD73) and percolating cow bells to hypnotic effect. This calls to mind a combination of classic Carl Craig and Villalobos at his most playful. R&S new signing The Maghreban supplies a killer dubbed out take on the original that strips away the heavy kicks and pumps up the percussion, hurtling the synth pads to the fore that comes on like John Carpenter peaking on MDMA.

Also, he runs one of our favorite music shops (or should we say 'boutiques'?) with the small but very carefully selected online shelf full of rare records and weird jams from more or less known, but underground labels. Akendengue - Epuguzu

Pierre-Claver Akendengué (born April 25, 1943) is a musician and composer from Gabon. In 1997, he received his country's "Prix d'excellence" at the Africa Music awards in Libreville, honoring his body of work. He also serves as a cultural advisor for the government of Gabon.

Born on the island of Awuta, which is located just off the coast from Port-Gentil, Akendengué went to school in Port-Gentil, then studied psychology at the University of Caen in France during the 1960s. While in France, he met singer Mireille, who encouraged his musical interests.

In 1974, Akendengué recorded his first album, Nandipo, which consisted of songs of his own composition, sung in French and Nkomi, accompanied by guitar, women choir, bass and the percussion of Nana Vasconcelos. He later set to music poems by P. E. Mondjegou, such as "Le Chant du Coupeur d'Okoumé" ("The Song of the Okoumé Cutter"). Returning to Gabon, he studied solfeggio and plainchant at a Catholic college, and presented spectacles showcasing traditional Gabonese forms in a concert setting.

In 1986, he received a doctorate from the University of Paris for his study of religion and education among the Nkomi.
