Mix of the Week #64: Max Essa - Phoney Yogi Fantasy

Stepping up to the prestigious Ransom Note mix series we have one of our favourite Scandinavian Disc Jockeys, Skatebård. The Norwegian electronic music scene seems to be awash with talent these days between the likes of the Sex Tags crew, Todd Terje, Bjorn Torske, Prins Thomas, Telephones, Röyksopp and the Full Pupp crew. There is certainly a distinct sound now running downstream from a country which wasn't previously known for its reputation in the world of Electronic music. Skatebård has been releasing music for the last fifteen years. His sound is a blend of Italo, House, Electro, Disco and beyond.

Initially making his debut on one of our favorite efforts Blind Jacks Journey, Istanbul based talent Aleksandir is getting a lot of love for his ability to lay down unquestionably silky records. Surely there is a wispy-smoke like charm to his music. Most notably, he displays a beautifully patient touch on the keys that diffuses into an arrangement of warm sounds and tasteful harmonies. In his debut tale, he explores an impeccable selection of records that all touch on sonic nuances that inspire his palette. Without further ado, Aleksandir lays his debut tale down on our archive.

Rare disco cuts and vinyl delights from the Naples-based producer and selector.

Dario di Pace AKA Mystic Jungle is an Italian electronic music producer and the owner of Futuribile Record Club and Periodica Records. This year saw the release of his Italo-Disco flavored debut LP Night Of Cheetah on the latter imprint, and aside from his solo endeavours he is in a band with Raffaele Arcella (Whodamanny) and Enrico Fierro (Milord) called Mystic Jungle Tribe. In this episode, Mystic Jungle performs a colorful disco set in Foligno.
