Longtime resident at the iconic Watergate, his trajectory includes extended sets at Panorama Bar, DC-10, Warung Beach Club and D-Edge, as well as festivals like Fusion Festival and Melt! Festival. His music has been released on labels such as Kompakt, Poker Flat, Watergate, Compost and Upon You Records.

In this one-hour mix, Marco delivers a deeply personal selection of 19 tracks, reflecting key moments from his journey in music production.

"It’s an honor to present—after Luna City Express—another exclusive mix for Just the Artist. Putting my favorite own productions and remixes into one DJ mix was way more challenging than expected. Emotional too… because this journey has been going on for quite a while now.

I was never a “hit” producer, and definitely never a hyped DJ. But 30 years behind the decks—including 18 years as a resident at Watergate—taught me a lot, kept me curious, and (hopefully) versatile. I still love warm-ups as much as closings, long sets just as much as prime time. It’s all part of the story.

My sound lives somewhere between Minimal, Deep, Trippy, Groovy House and Techno.
Digging through my own catalog for this mix was a proper trip… damn, I’ve released a lot. Some might say too much. I say: it is what it is 

Thanks so much for the love and support over all these years. I hope you enjoy this one-hour ride through my career. The flame is still burning—and it’s not going anywhere.

DADBEATS is a loose platform for some grizzled DJs from Budapest to take their pick from the danceable pieces of electronic music of the past half century and their current favorites. It's not a big deal, but they believe that their musical selection can show something new, and they hope it will find open ears. Let the beats go boomer.

One of our mutual soft spots is the slow mid-tempo electronic dance music of the 80s, from mutant/dubbed disco to electrofunk and leftfield synthpop to new beat. A mix of this kind has already been made, but there are so many treasures from this collection that we had to repeat. First and foremost, danceability is the main consideration, so truly aloof and abstract music was left out, but we think the experimental attitude of this decade, which filters through the bombastic pop surface is impressive even to today's ears, still comes through.

Growing up in the ‘dark and crumbling’ Tbilisi of the 90s, Georgian techno bulwark Kancheli has been pivotal in the city’s cultural rebirth. From teenage jazz inclinations to his more recent electronic avatar, he’s navigated a path that fuses rhythmic sophistication with raw, immersive textures, crafting sets and productions that feel at once introspective and kinetic, subtle tension and emotive release that coexist in a fluid, almost cinematic flow. At the heart of this evolution is his long-standing residency at Bassiani, where he’s helped define the club’s distinctive output, transforming it into a hub for experimental, forward-thinking sounds. Together with Newa, he’s also the founder of Shin Records, a platform for emerging Georgian talent, and his own releases on Bassiani’s in-house label have elevated his profile higher still. Over the years, Kancheli’s come to be known for a style that synthesises propulsive melodies and driving beats, trancelike textures that swell with chromatic intensity. So too, his skittering palette has made appearances further afield, translating his hometown’s cultural energy on the international stage at venues like Berghain, Robert Johnson, Shelter, Dimensions and CTM. This next episode brings the magic back home: Bassiani Podcast 291 is an incisive and defiant addition to the series, recorded live at Bassiani past October, three hours of pure techno power from a true chronicler of the Tbilisi scene.
