« STRCTR is a brand new imprint from Aix-En-Provence in France. This is the label's debut outing and contains four alluring tracks for discerning deep house DJs. Matthieu Faubourg's epic opener - the tactile, melodious, dreamy and life-affirming "Please, Stay", which more than justifies its 10-minute duration -
feels like a statement of intent, while Dub Striker's "Mood" recalls classic New York and New Jersey bumpers of old. On the flip, Harrison BDP gets busy with Syclops style synth bass, floatation tank chords and shuffling percussion on "Decompression", before ManooZ goes ultra-deep on the dusty and woozy "Tinted Windows". A very fine debut, all told. »

This partnership is perfectly introduced with a first EP "M CITY" made by @Vitess1. We selected four fabulous tracks with some good classic house rhythm, nice samples and fresh chords... but let's talk about Vitess himself who just made his second digital release! Originally from Montreuil in France, he started to learn the drums at the age of 12 and grew up with influences such as Jazz, Rock and Hip Hop music. Being a producer for 4 years already, he fuels his creative process with the diversity gained from all these different past and present influences. »

« Aix en Provence-based imprint STRCTR first tickled our fancy last year with a trio of ear-pleasing, floor-friendly EPs. Since two of those were multi-artist, compilation style affairs, it's little surprise to find that release number four is similarly structured. First up, ALVA wraps jaunty, jazzy synth riffs and sun-kissed guitars around a bouncy and swinging deep house groove (The Wall), before Armless Kid delivers the kind of smooth and quietly soulful instrumental deep house number that could once have graced the B-side of a Prescription release. Thanks to some ear-catching acid motifs and fluid, near fluttering chords, Mara Lakour's "Timecode" has a much more futurist, deep space feel, while Ortella's "Digital Detox" wraps decidedly intergalactic, dub techno style motifs around a thumping, peak-time ready rhythm track. »

« Leon & Marius the duo who form Das Carma hail from Stuttgart, Germany. The pair have been on a steady rise pushing their irresistible House grooves since their first release as part of 124 recordings VA back in 2016. Since then they have gone on to release on other esteemed house labels such as Rough Recordings, Borg and newly formed Esouh Music.

2019 see's the pair land on STRCTR, a label with a reputation for delivering that sweet House music and Das Carma are in good company here with previous artists such as Manooz, Harrison BDP & Liam Geddes on the label. Even the title of the EP shows the fondness between label & producers: STR > MRS (Airport codes stands for Stuttgart, Germany from where the producers come from and Marseille, France where the label is based).

Delivering a 4 track EP of original productions, Das Carma shows that sometimes a flashy remixer is simply not needed. "Liftoff Cloud 9" opens the EP with a warm floating dreamlike track, ebbing and weaving beautifully throughout the course of the track. "Larry & Frankie" and "Subnautica" keep the subtle refrains of the opener but bring the funk slightly more with bump-in garage drums turning these tracks into feel-good lo-fi burners. Closing out the EP is "Dub101", here the guys waste no time in making the tracks intentions felt, skippy House drums and a big old slice of call & response from some heavy hitting Dub chords - Peak time tackle. »

" From our perspective, this record brings almost everything which we stand for as a producer duo. Spreading happiness, making people dance and do music as we want it to be are our goals and we might have achieved those targets from our point of view. Nonetheless, this record also works while just relaxing at home to enjoy music. We‘re very proud to work with STRCTR and we‘re curious about the resonance of our beloved community! "

The correctly named Hottrax welcome Italian star Frank Storm for a brace of brilliant new grooves in ‘Body Crunch’.

Storm has really established himself in Ibiza as the founder of Unusual Suspects, a cult underground night that has been at Sankeys since 2015. The party has gone on to host events round the world while his own sound fuses deepness with minimal tech grooves and has landed on Hot Creations, Get Physical, Rawthentic, Celesta and Serialism amongst many others.

Up first here is ‘Body Crunch,’ a quick and slick track of deft drum programming, busy percussive details and late night energy that steps you off your feet. It’s a stripped back track but a hugely effective one that is brilliantly infectious.
On the flip, ‘Attenders’ is another masterfully minimal tune with involving loops of warm bass, sci-fi effects and watery chords that sink you deep into the supple groove.

These are two high class and superbly executed tracks from one of the scene’s finest.

« Berlin-based Frag Maddin bursts onto STRCTR with four hefty cuts. Maddin, whose hard-hitting sound has touched Mistress Recordings, Madhouse Records, W&O Street Tracks and Snatch! in the past makes his way into 2020 in style. Side A’s lead track kicks of the label’s sixth release; the aptly-titled ‘Industrial Deafness’, is one warehouse-proof, downright dirty jumble of loose 4x4 drums and hardware groove. Nick Beringer’s remix forms its own subtle groove with a minimal house edge – more intimate bar, less cavernous warehouse. Side B’s ‘Stuhltanz’ has floating flutes, jazz keys and one catchy vocal sample – a weighty kick and bumping bassline brings it together. And the DOS remix takes the euphoria of the special track one step further, adding a warm break and a complimentary sprinkling of acid. »
