In 1997, Jay Dee was the still new kid on the block. With the success of singles like Runnin' (Pharcyde), and Stakes is High, he had his own undeniable sound, but the majors still weren't sold.
This is proof of that.  
Jay was solicited by a lot of majors to do remixes for artists on their rosters. Time and time again, they would go with someone else. 
The joints he was coming up with were fucking nuts, but to no avail. In one case, he was led to believe that one of his mixes got thru, only to see another producers remix when the 12" showed up at Record Time. 
I told him fuck it I wanna put it out.
I had never put a record out.
Got an investor. 
Then I made a phone call.
Chris Manak, aka Peanut Butter Wolf, was my rep at TRC distribution in California. I was working at Street Corner Music ordering records from him every week. I got the #'s 
from him. Sent the masters over and we had a record.
The first pressing was on blue vinyl. Limited to 1500 copies. 
Gone.
Second press was on green vinyl.
Gone.
I also learned to listen to test presses on multiple turntables.
There was a skip in the middle of the fucking Woo Hah rmx that did NOT SKIP on my 1200. Swear to god I had the onlt 12 that could play that shit. It skipped on EVERY other 1200 turntable in the world. Fucked up. Check your test pressings on a few setups. But, that's fixed now. These records go for $100 plus on the internets these days. 
Remastered by Dave Cooley directly from a sealed blue copy.
Why? Because the plates broke at the plant, and I lost the master in a flood 3 years later. That's why.

“Bubbles (So High)” is the very latest single from Cazal Organism to drop on Delicious Vinyl (October 14). Featuring vocals from singer Dezi Paige and rapper K-Natural, the song talks to listeners of allowing everyday LA life to wash over you and enjoying the high that it brings. The production boasts Cazal’s signature touch as soaring foamy synths are grounded by whirring, hip-hop accented beats.  

The accompanying music video is a fittingly dream-like visualization of the song’s sudsy sentiment and celestial groove. Directed by Dina Juntila, the video sees Paige and K-Natural drive around Los Angeles in a kaleidoscopic homage to California’s trippy side. 

“Bubbles (So High)” is the first single from Cazal Organism’s forthcoming, yet-to-be-titled, EP. With the direction of Michael Ross, aka Mike Floss, the EP will see the jazzier edge of Cazal’s production style complimented by collaborations with an array of local talent including the likes of Casey Veggies, Dezi Paige, Joe Styles and K-Natural. --  Alice Price-Styles

Tokyo Blue Nostalgia

In the fourth installment of 14KT's Solid Gold Seven's, he takes Nas's "Understanding", an early 90's loosie where God's Son went in over Dennis Edwards classic "Don't Look Any Further", and beats up the original sample along with Ashley's Roachclip break. For those that know these two pieces also were used to create Eric B & Rakim's Paid In Full, hence the "Further Paid RMX" title.
