SUNDAY STEPPER SOCIETY SESSION 002 - MAHJONG WITH THE AUNTIES

TRACk: EYRA - Where I Wanna Be (Vocal Dub)

After a few months of lockdown. The Sunday Stepper Society in the DimSumDistrict opens it's doors again for their weekly Mahjong sessions. We had an opportunity to speak to a small handful of these happy 'aunties' who haven't had a chance to play for a while. With one of the aunties saying "The over 2000 year old game is timeless and generation - bringing me closer and more curious about my Chinese heritage." Also an activity that has brought communities together according to another Auntie.

To provide the sunday energy influenced rhythms for these amazing and strong women are 5 artists that we have been amazed by. Big Up Alfredo Romero, Cooke, Donny Rotten, EYRA and Luke Hazell for helping us execute this idea with tracks of different styles. All showing appreciation of the tunes at the downtempo and more mellow end of the spectrum of steppy riddims.

Moody and eerie Speed Garage coming in fresh from France from a producer called Rick O' Shay who specialises in the sounds of Dark Garage and Speed Garage.

His track 'Speed Demon' has the perfect collection of samples that give the track an old skool feel and also provide a dark driving force on any dancefloor or mix. The drums are nice and driving, accompanied by a classic dark, Speed Garage bassline. A producer we will definitely be keeping our eyes on...
