Foremost international techno outlet Drumcode is delighted to announce the release of its next full-length album, ‘Satellite’, by enduring Italian techno talent Sam Paganini.

Though he has been active since the mid nineties, recent years have been hugely successful for Sam, with searing techno EPs coming on revered labels such as Riche Hawtin’s Plus8, Sven Vath’s Cocoon and of course, Adam Beyer’s Drumcode. In his time he has been responsible for underground hits like ‘Zoe’, ‘Polyester’ and ‘Fire In My Arms’, all of which demonstrate his dynamic understanding of sexy, dark and hypnotic techno grooves and at the same time have earned him plenty of great Beatport chart positions as well as respect from the best in the game.

Incredibly, ‘Satellite’ is Sam’s first full-length album. Informed by his DJ gigs at legendary places like Berghain in Berlin and Cielo in New York, the album starts with a dystopian bit of sonic scene setting, as if a space ship is charging up ready to take off.

From there it’s a case of getting straight down to business. ‘Another Chance’ is a spacey bit of cantering techno and ‘White’ is rooted in devastating kick drums and is riddled with serrated synth lines that build lots of great techno pressure. ‘Down’ is an undulating bit of funky techno complete with choice vocal flourishes and tracks like ‘Lotus’ are prime offerings from the deeper end of the scale.

No two tracks sound the same on Satellite: Sam is always teasing out a new bit of texture, nailing a slightly different vibe or exploring different amounts of light and dark throughout the course of this most excellent album. This is evidenced by diverse cuts like ‘Dusty’, ‘Toxic’ and ‘Rave’.

Despite ‘Satellite’ being Sam’s debut album, it showcases his seductive style in all its glory across 12 fantastic tracks that will leave you begging for more.

Overture

In it's 6th release, Aethereal enlists Andrew G. Ellen and continues to forge ahead, clearing the path for other progressive labels to follow. Andrew G. Ellen, an up and coming name in the progressive scene, who released earlier this year on Mistique Music and System Recordings is truly an undiscovered talent possessing a unique sound to be reckoned with. September, also the name of this release, starts with a massive bass that drones though an enchanted forest of thick, pounding kicks along a path paved by a winding synth line bordered with hazy, filtered pads drifting lazily amongst layered high hat foliage. The second track, Signal finds the listener deep in a magical wood sauntering beside a gurgling stream of synthesizer stabs where cymbals, like dappled rays of light, dance along the surface of the swirling melody rushing ever onward toward the end of the track. In Hope, the final track of this album, your listener emerges led by a rolling bass line, uplifted by a synthetic keys and soaring pads on the other side of the forest, reminiscing about the truly wondrous journey that is September.

Mind Off

It was in 2014 when a mutual friend introduced me to Victor Ruiz while he was staying here in Berlin. I invited Victor to my studio where we had a fantastic session, playing our music to each other, listening to stuff we like and simply talkin and connecting. Since then, we became close friends as well as starting to work together. Victor has released two outstanding EPs on Electric Ballroom by now. This summer we met again and recorded three tracks. The result is our first joint EP, of which I am very proud. (Thomas Schumacher, November 2015)

German and Polish talent combines across the borderless line of electronic music – Oovation and Yoachim join forces in a sonic collage that warms the soul with analogue beauty and haunting vocal lines as the duo "open it wide". A hypnotic arpeggio sequence slices through an urban soundscape, industrial in shape and arrangement; stark German architecture provides chance patterns of rhythmic mastery that loom large in solid concrete form. In "isolation", a musical trope entrances with simple majesty. A growling bass rises up in waves from below, the infinite shades of grey from cold inland water mesmerise as low frequency grows into powerfully filtered white noise, the waves crash against steel walls.

Carefully deconstructing sonic components, Rauschhaus reconstructs with laser precision into new aural form. Emotive and multi-faceted, stratified layers of sound emerge in skyscraper strength; foundations built upon the delicate strength of metronomic kick and percussive cadence. The 'key' to success is anchored in new vocal treatment and golden shimmering synth line. Cool Finnish authority combines analogue and synthetic in a brave new world, the bold sonic palette of Movement Machina 'opens wide', transforming the landscape around. Pulsating melodies converge in silky counterpoint while juxtaposed rasping bass rumbles across the horizon in distant menace. Repetitive vocal phrasing provides sonic identity caught on the breeze above the sprawling city below.

Looking down upon the city, everybody feels the same inside, joy and sorrow, pain and pleasure, strength in isolation opened up wide.
