Respected label Diynamic has announced the eighth edition of its popular ‘Four to the Floor’ series. 

The series aims to champion four productions that have been handpicked, road-tested and approved by label-boss Solomun. The ‘Four to the Floor’ EP series is comprised of four different dancefloor-orientated tracks from different producers, from upcoming talents to long-established electronic music artists. 

First up is ‘Zulu’ from Buenos Aires duo Brigado Crew and Argentinian producer Crisstiano. Drawing from their South American roots, ‘Zulu’ is a percussive track with a laidback yet exotic feel thanks to its echoing vocal samples.

Picking up the pace, German duo Adana Twins’ ‘Uncompromising’ features a driving bassline and clattering synths, building up in waves for a series of dramatic drops. 

Next up is Ukrainian duo ARTBAT & French producer Rafael Cerato with ‘Uplift’, a track that slowly builds ambience with flittering synths before plundering into a hefty low end. 

Rounding off the latest edition of ‘Four to the Floor’ is the atmospheric ‘Pretend To Fly’ from Definition. The 7-minute journey features wistful male vocals and distinctive arpeggios leading into the rich basslines characteristic of the Diynamic sound. With a relatively short career span, Definition has already had a slew of releases on Materialism and Underground Audio allowing his support to grow.

Miami - a vibrant city that has always been at the forefront of dance music. A place that i look forward to visiting and performing as a DJ on a regular basis. One could argue that clubs in Miami have done just as much, if not more, for the growth and mutation of dance music as clubs in Ibiza, London or New York. I’ve been very fortunate to have played many great rooms in Miami over the years from Space and Heart to Story and Do Not Sit and everything in between.  During my last stop in Miami I got to play in yet another amazing room called Trade. I had actually played this room years ago when it was called Liquid and later on under another name that I can’t recall now, but never has it been this good. Trade captures the true essence of the underground in South Beach. A format that many other mega clubs have, unfortunately, abandoned in favor of pushing the more commercial and accessible music du jour. I am happy Trade, under the stewardship of LINK Miami Rebels, is going strong and I look forward to coming back soon. In the meantime, here is an hour of my set live from Trade. Brazilian producer ANNA steps up to Matador’s RUKUS imprint with her ‘Haze Moon’ EP, featuring the deep and ethereal title track that delivers a massive sound.

‘Glutes’ is peak-time material without being overly fast or chaotic, the energy instead coming from the transportive arrangement and emotive melodic content. The same can be said for Bäumel’s ‘Surge’ on Kompakt, an anthem in the sets of Tale Of Us last year which led to this release.

The title track rises and falls, surging with wide-sweeping synth notes and a steady rhythm to anchor the waves. An infectious refrain pulls you further in and, right on cue, the kick drum continues to beat the sweet spot. ‘Engage’ is filled with similarly subtle details, uplifting arpeggios and atmospheric reverb. Half-way through the melody bursts into life, shining brightly through the haze and creating one of those moments of release that make the Afterlife sound work so well on a dancefloor.
