Renato Grieco, with his characteristic rasp – as if his voice were coming out from the mouth of a cave - invites into his own cavities the things that Jacques Brosse catalogues in his mythical book. Yet the moment these things cross the threshold of his mouth, they transform!
They echo, hurling themselves back into his depths in a swelling breath.
If it is a jellyfish, it becomes an excavated fossil — very deep.
If it is a stone, imagine how far down it can fall.
And so, in the darkness of the uvula, the things Brosse describes get lost in Grieco’s grotto; they are no longer found. One only listens to them.
