Bringing our final UNFOLD of 2022 to a close was a four and a half hour long B2B between Voicedrone and James Newmarch.

A rare, marathon set from the pair allowed a different approach to their playing; gradually increasing their tempo, giving more time and space to explore their collections, whilst playing to a main room that stayed at near peak capacity and energy levels throughout.

Developing a discerning ear for a diverse range of genres since a very young age, Tuscanian-born Thomas Bianco blended succesfully his early passion for music into his current signature sound.

His music journey led him to Berlin, where he discovered his passion for electronic music. He was captivated by the city's pulsating Techno scene, which ignited his creative spark and led him to experiment with DJing and music production under his first alias: Keterhoe.

Over time, Thomas's sound evolved into a delicate balance of light and dark, softness and hardness, simplicity and complexity. He’s become a master of blending multiple subgenres of techno into a cohesive whole, infusing each track with his unique perspective and creative energy.

Today, Thomas has established himself as a leading figure in Zurich's thriving underground scene, where he is renowned for his mastery of music and his ability to create an intricate sonic tapestry that is both meditative and pulsating. His sets are a masterful blend of rough textures, driving rhythms, and haunting melodies.

Thomas's music is marked by its minimalism, depth, and dynamism, which he uses to create a sonic journey that infuses a breath of fresh air into the electronic music scene. Nonsensical is a side project from Backbone which is based on uniqueness differentiated sound paradigma. Looking for wider visions of ambience aesthetics, the artist presents himself for the first time with an EP of 6 tracks that links the listener to a day dreaming narrative. Highly connected to a deeper consciousness healing novel we can witness an inspiring environment with precise musical touches combining wood elements among fresh synths. This signature presents the beginning of 2023 from the label that returns with a second EP fulfilling an experience without stigmas.

This vision represents how endless cycles collide in order to create other forms of life. Joining this EP with a remix from the track “Solina”, Efdemin signs an outstanding uplifting track bringing a sublime sound to this release presenting a perfect sound journey to close this EP with some classy functional techno with a modern atmospheric subtle concept.

La DJ y productora Victoria Mussi es sinónimo del underground paraguayo. Nacida y criada en Asunción, sus impresionantes producciones y energizantes escenarios son un subproducto del carácter y el paisaje cultural de su ciudad natal.

La carrera de Victoria está impulsada por una pasión por las plataformas y por animar a quienes la rodean. Disfruta de los elementos audiovisuales de la música y colabora con artistas visuales y visionarios para dar vida a sus canciones, construyendo simultáneamente una comunidad que celebra el arte y la expresión en todas sus formas.

Boiler Room 2016 de Mussi estableció su reputación a escala mundial. Su actuación demostró la amplitud y profundidad de su catálogo; una mezcla atmosférica de ambient, techno, house etéreo y breaks doblados que mostraron sus habilidades hábiles y su gusto discreto. Con lanzamientos en Jujuka, Counterchange y Planet X, el estilo de producción de Mussi es tanto introspectivo como eufórico. Sus pistas se encuentran en algún lugar entre el techno y el house, con temas que abarcan toda la gama de la condición humana.

Cofundó su sello In between en el 2017 para exhibir el talento local paraguayo en múltiples géneros. In between es ahora un programa de radio establecido, sello y serie de eventos y continúa definiendo el sonido de Paraguay y allanando el camino para que prosperen los artistas dedicados.

En 2019, Mussi co-creó Tango, un club nocturno con el único objetivo de compartir el amor por la música y las artes y celebrar el poder transformador de la cultura rave. Con Tango, Victoria ayudó a construir y desarrollar un entorno íntimo e inclusivo que prioriza las necesidades de la comunidad.
  
La naturaleza empática de Victoria hace que sus sets sean una forma de telepatía. Tiene una habilidad especial para alimentarse de la multitud y recuperar su energía en forma de selecciones compasivas e inteligentes, y ve la música como un ritual de conexión interna y externa, experimentación, transformación y crecimiento.

Víctor García es un diseñador sonoro, explorador y compositor de largo recorrido cuyos pasos han ido mutando a lo largo de los años hasta cristalizar en su proyecto más personal hasta la fecha: la contundente electrónica de Death Whistle. 

Su carrera compositiva se ha centrado en la última década en la creación de bandas sonoras, tanto para videojuegos como para celebrados trabajos fílmicos como «Decorado», «Psiconautas, los niños olvidados» o «Sangre de Unicornio», piezas con dos Goyas entre sus múltiples galardones y que le han valido reconocimientos como la selección en Aubagne, festival especializado en compositores para el medio audiovisual.

 Con Death Whistle, Víctor García traslada el aura potente y cinemática de sus obras al escenario y a la pista a través de paisajes sonoros, ruidismo y punzantes melodías que envuelven a la espectadora en una experiencia desarmante, inmersiva, subterránea, prófuga irresoluble entre lo onírico y lo terrenal. Sus impactantes directos le han ganado una y otra vez el favor de una audiencia rendida.

After starting the mini Dekmantel Selectors podcast series two years ago, it feels like a tradition to bring it back to life. In the next couple of months, we will release 6 podcasts by some of the exciting artists from the line-up. This year’s podcasts challenges the artists to work around a theme or idea they picked theirselves. After Strange Boutique, it's Lena Willikens turn, who just released her brand new Selectors Compilation on Dekmantel Records as well.

It's safe to say that Willikens is one of the most delightfully unpredictable selectors we know. An affiliate of the exuberant Cómeme camp as well as Dusseldorf's renowned Salon des Amateurs establishment, Willikens' sets are built around her unceasingly eclectic tastes and ongoing infatuation with unusual sounds, making her primed again to move the Selectors dancefloor with the best bits of audio she's been able to dig up from the more twisted caverns of electronic music.

In anticipation of that, she put together a stunning mix which include heavy hitters from artists like Meat Beat Manifesto to Metamorphosis, towLie, Single Cell Orchestra and many, many more fantastic artists. Lena on her contribution: "I recorded this mix while moving from place to place in Amsterdam, trying to settle down. Huge thanks to De School which gave me access to their basement when I was trying to find a place to record."

Not many DJs can claim to experience as meteoric, grassroots ascent as SPFDJ. Having established a remarkable energy, style and attitude on the underground techno circuits of both London and Berlin, she is known for inspiring debauchery and sweat-soaked hedonism on an international scale. Typically operating at a blisteringly high-tempo, an SPFDJ trip takes no prisoners in it’s exploration of strains of techno, acid, EBM, hardcore and trance. It’s a style that Ben UFO called “utterly ruthless”, and one that more and more clubbers are submitting to; a gleefully chaotic two-fingers to dance music’s self-serious establishment.

March's podcast is mixed by the France based DJ & producer: Hadone (@hadonesector).

Hadone is one of the most interesting new artists in techno, making his way up in quick ascent. Recently he’s been added to the Possession (@intothevalley) family as a resident alongside heavy hitting releases on esteemed labels such as Monnom Black (@monnom-black) and KAOS (@hectoroaks). He’s already set several clubs across the globe alight in the last few months not only as Hadone but also alongside Shlømo (@shl-mo) with their Vipa Diva project.

90s Techno remains his main influence, to which he adds his own touch that we all know. This combination gives us a simple and melancholic result that defines his musical identity, creating his own unique style.
