TERANGA BEAT proudly presents DIEUF-DIEUL de THIÈS in their first ever edition. Three singers ASSANE CAMARA, BASSIROU SARR and GORA MBAYE together with their chef d'orchestre and guitar player PAPE SECK (an ex-member of GUELEWAR) compose traditional rhythms from all the regions of Senegal, with fuzz guitars, horn sections and hallucinatory percussion. 

The result is an explosive mixture of an Electric Psychedelic sound with the wisdom and superiority of the musical traditions of the region, a crossover of AFRO-MANDING and AFRO-JAZZ, in which each singer guides the 13-member band in a different direction. Even today this 32 year old recording sounds futuristic and it is really rather weird that DIEUF-DIEUL never had the chance to release an actual album. 

Aw Sa Yone Vol.1 includes the biggest part of their second recording and the double LP comes in a special edition with a Silkscreen print cover with a large poster & included in the CD booklet photos and liner notes outlining the group member's careers. 

There was no other group in Senegal with such a variety of cultural background and a strong identity. Senegalese music at its BEST! We hope you will enjoy.

Soundway's at it again! This time with a brand new album from South London's Huw Bennet under his newly established Susso alias. The New Keira LP features music which is inspired by (and directly samples) the magnificent sounds of the Mandinka people, which he recorded during a recent trip to Gambia.

The tracks are composed entirely from original source material, field recordings and Huw’s talents as a multi-instrumentalist; performing tuned percussion from the region including the Mandinka Balafon, Kutiringding drum, as well as drawing on his skill as a professional upright / electric bassist. One of the tracks which best exemplifies his contemporary electronic sound, whilst still paying homage to a traditional Gambian aesthetic has to be Ansumana. It's definitely been a shop favourite ever since the good guys at Soundway sent it over and we can't wait to get our hands on this beautiful release when it arrives next month. TERANGA BEAT proudly presents composer Kyriakos Sfetsas and his Greek Fusion Orchestra, an artist with a truly multifaceted body of work. Sfetsas formed GFO in 1976, in  order to accomplish an ambition dating back to his 1960's Avant Garde period in Paris: to create a piece of work that would expand the boundaries of Greek traditional music. The result is a Progressive-Jazz Fusion masterpiece comprising complex and intriguing compositions, and performed by Athens' best musicians of the day. The recordings on this album, which form only a small part of his overall body of work, are previously unreleased and their quality is truly impressive. We sincerely hope you will enjoy them!

It’s an enormously exciting event to have this album reissued in a gorgeous, remastered edition, which will bring the music of this master artist to a new audience, and hopefully ignite a new interest in the exhilarating Ukwuani sound of the 1970s and 80s. If you’re about to listen to this music for the first time, you’re definitely in for a treat. 

Franco Lee Ezute died in 2013 at the age of 64, but thanks to this record his harmony will continue to reign supreme.
