A lover of old-school keyboards, it is the resulting clean oscillating rhythms and riffs with a keen ear for a hook that make Gwynne's 68m opus (Sunday/Worship) an exhilirating ride.
Standout tracks like korzybski underline that, with it's repetitive electronic pulse, always sharp, sometimes offbeat, but always hook-laden, with a trancey ambience that could be a grandchild of Kraftwerk's Autobahn.
It may appear to be crudely orchestrated, as do other tracks, but Neuro-sematic with its rapturously soothing anodic flute loop is another real high.
Challenger is the most challenging thing on offer & the most un-MiH composition on offer. It's a collision of ideas over an unsettling 13m which starts with a sweeping concert piano before meandering into a wall of synth noise, multiple changes of pace, a bizarre ambient deep bass passage, and seemingly random drum patterns. It's a throw everything and the kitchen sink job, experimental invention above form; perplexing but commendable. Aphex Twin would approve.
