I write songs with people and on my own.  I love the way a song can light a match and illuminate a story or a feeling or a character. I'm especially drawn to Americana and Country.

I spend every February writing at fawm.org (February Album Writing Month). It's a great place to hang out if you've ever wanted to sing, play, write, compose, listen, or discuss music. You can find me there as nancycunning.

 I've gotten to write with friends in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington Wisconsin, as well as Canada, France, England, Finland, Germany, and Peru.

Blending the heart of country, story telling of folk, and energy of pop, crafting songs with an americana vibe all his own.  Life, his muse, music, his canvas.

Detroit singer-songwriter Mike Ward is known for his lyrically-centric, vocally-charged folk songs. Born in the 50’s, he grew up through the conscious-raising 60’s, where a new awareness of the world was colliding around him (for both good and bad). Mike sat in at sit-ins, marched, volunteered, ran for student government, sang protest songs - even wrote a few - and was always involved when the rights of others were at stake. He took influence from the likes of Bob Dylan, Jackson Browne, Marvin Gaye and Joan Baez, with his own songs offering a dose of self-deprecating humor in the vein of John Prine, Louden Wainwright III and Christine Lavin.

Mike has an intimate songwriting style that reflects family, community and the world that surrounds us. His own fear of leaving that world without making a difference in the lives of others is part of what drives him. How can any of us rest with so much work to be done? 

Mike has released the following music, “We Wonder” (2018) ,“The Darkness and The Light” (2021), “Career Advice” single (2021),“Particles to Pearls” (June 2022), “Love Never Rests” (April 2023), “Still Troubled” (2024) “The Heart Must Pay The Price” & “Transistor Dreams” singles (2025). “The Time That Remains” July 1, 2025.

His songs were finalists for the Rocky Mountain Songwriting Contest, honorable mention 2023 Telluride Troubadour Songwriting Competition and 2022 Great River Songwriting Competition

He performs regularly at listening room venues, coffeehouses, house shows and festivals throughout Michigan and the Midwest. Why Psychosongs? Well, his nickname as a hockey player is “PsychoWard”. Enough said.

Rachel Curtis is a contemplative folk and daydreamy, smoky pop artist with Michigan roots, currently residing in Nashville, Tennessee. She delivers unique, seasoned vocals, weaving a common thread of heartfelt melodies throughout the varying alternative folk and pop genres.

She has opened up for nationally-touring bands and Grammy-winning artists including Gladys Knight, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Tracy Lawrence, Tyler Ramsey (Band of Horses), Mat Kearney in September of 2021 and Will Hoge in 2022. Rachel’s matured stylings grabbed the attention of American Idol judges Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan in 2018, landing her a ticket to Hollywood.

Her original music received a national spotlight at the 2019 CMA Fest, on the Spotlight Stage at the Music City Center in Nashville. Getting to play Common Ground Music Festival, Curtis was able to cross off one of many bucket list items by playing the same festival as her inspirations -- Brandi Carlile and City and Colour in 2019.

Rachel has been releasing music consistently since 2018, including her early favorites “Dandelions,”& “Intertwine”. Her 2021 singles gained impressive recognition from blogs & playlists, including NPR. This led to the release of her 2022 self-titled album, landing two non-exclusive publishing contracts for sync licensing. Rachel continues to write and tour with intent to change lives, meet new people and continue to plant seeds of growth.

Some of her musical inspirations include artists that also tend to blur the lines of genres like Adele, Maggie Rogers, Bishop Briggs, Harry Styles, Kacey Musgraves and Hozier.
