No longer a fledgling artist, Anthea is now firmly at the forefront as one of house and techno’s leading DJ and production talents.

Once a fixture behind the counters of London’s Flying Records and Phonica Records, the recent Berlin transplant has been honing her tastemaker’s ear for the better part of 15 years. Anthea built a reputation as arguably the most in-demand female DJ in London, and now she disseminates her distinct brand of funk-fuelled music to every corner of the globe, as a world-renowned DJ, an artist for Cecille, Phonica, Freak n Chic and Desolat, as vocalist and collaborator alongside many of the scene’s underground heroes, and as the A&R expert behind the sound of Brouqade Records.

Anthea’s rise from the East London club scene to international tours in the U.S., Europe and South America is a direct result of her talent and determination. Word of her roof-raising sets at local institutions like Fabric and T-Bar landed her coveted podcasts with Ibiza Voice and Pulse Radio, followed by repeat appearances at Watergate in Berlin, Harry Klein in Munich, Underground in Ibiza, and Gipsy in Moscow to name a select few. Though she casts her net wide, Anthea remains a DJ first and foremost, and this shines through her infectious performances for leading clubs and festivals around the world.

Casting an eye over Anthea’s productions, it’s clear that value lies in their worth, and not their quantity; all of her releases and remixes have been carefully selected, and associations with Freak ‘n Chic, Phonica, All Inn, One Records, Desolat and air london speak to her esteem among the scene’s leading labels. Anthea’s keen sense for mood, groove, and sleek sound aesthetics saw early efforts on Supplement Facts and Tuningspork, and further releases on Supernature and Bootleg. As a solo artist Anthea continues to develop a style that is very much her own: falling somewhere between house and techno, and always deep, tribal and bassline-driven.

Anthea’s collaborations with close friend Alex Celler have produced more than a little musical chemistry, and two years on, their track “The Playmaker” still holds its place as one of Resident Advisor's Top 40 tracks of all time. Anthea has complemented this by joining forces with Werner Niedermeier as JC Freaks, resulting in a run of deep and classy EPs for Mojuba and Wandering. Her recent feature and vocal work on Guti’s album Patio de Juegos, as well as her collaboration with fellow Berliner and label partner-in-crime Dana Ruh on “Finally” are further evidence of her collaborative talents in the studio.  

As one third of Berlin’s young and uprising Brouqade Records — alongside Dana Ruh and Ann M Cazal — Anthea’s inherently sharp A&R perspective has resulted in a string of fresh and exciting new artists being brought to the fore as the artists of tomorrow, with label showcases high in demand.

While currently busy with a program of Brouquade showcases which promise a number of high-profile guests in the near future, further Anthea releases on Crazyjack, Mobilee, Desolat, Kina and of course Brouqade are all in the pipeline.

With an emphasis on creating, and not imitating, Anthea has laid more than solid foundations for herself in 2013, and beyond that there lies nothing but an inspired future.

Seit gut zwei Jahren präsentieren wir euch Woche für Woche verschiedene Schweizer Künstlerinnen und Künstler in unserem hauseigenen Podcast. Von Basel über Bern bis in die Innerschweiz durften wir schon viele wundervolle Sets geniessen. Nun ist es an der Zeit, auch endlich mal ein Künstlerkollektiv aus dem fast schon kitschig schönen Zug begrüssen zu dürfen. Hierzu mixten uns die beiden Zuger Jungs Ra.pu & Nekow ein anspruchsvolles 58 minütiges Set.

Die zwei DJs und Produzenten konnten besonders in letzter Zeit vermehrt auf sich aufmerksam machen. Mit ihrem eigenen Musiklabel PRISMA Music jagen sie von Event zu Event und durften Ende 2013 zudem ihre erste Veröffentlichung feiern. Ihre Musik zeichnet sich durch perfekt inszenierte Perkussion, treibenden Basslines und düsteren Vocals aus und fesselt seine Hörerschaft im Nullkommanichts.

Für den Mix Nr. 53 müssen wir in diesem Fall eine ganz besondere Warnung herausgeben: schnallt euch an und geniesst eine Stunde verrückt gute Musik!

Audio Werner is widely and generally primarily known for his productions and live performances however, Djing came first, he has been collecting and mixing vinyl records since the early nineties. For that reason, it is such a rare occasion for him to have a podcast out that we bring him as part of the Toi.Toi.Musik Mix Series with a 1 hour extract of a Dj Set recorded at our Toi Toi Summer edition of Audio Werner's monthly residency 'Tune In'  at the adored Club Der Visionaere in Berlin.

Deymare's been on the case for quite a few years and his experience shines through. Combine that with a classy, sophisticated and laid back production style ala late 90's Straight Up Recordings (which I happen to have a deep affection for) and you have a winner. This mix's whole vibe is just soooo spot on, the track selection is pure class and that blend with Fish Go Deep played over Juan Solar for good 3 minutes just puts an icing on the cake. Don't sleep on this one!

A club kid in Paris in the early 00s and inspired by great artists of the time Dan Ghenacia, Ivan Smagghe, Ricardo Villalobos and Luciano, Djebali was ultimately drawn into life, first gracing the decks of a club in 2001. Since then he has evolved into an ccomplished house producer, launching his self-titled imprint in 2011 and making his Circoloco debut on the Terrace at DC10 Ibiza.

Developing a taste for deep and groovy house, Djebali cut his teeth at some of the finest hangouts in Paris, first backed by Terence:Terry: at the hyped After Party Is Not A Crime nights, before making numerous appearances at Rex Club and holding a residency at the Freak n’Chic Batofar parties between 2008 and 2010. Further afield, Djebali has brought his bounce and charisma to the likes of the forever legendary Bar25, Circoloco DC10, Space Ibiza, Harry Klein, Sankeys, Vertigo Costa Rica, Gipsy Moscow… alongside influential names including Seth Troxler, Tania Vulcano, Visionquest and Christian Burkhardt.

On the production front, Djebali caught the attention of none other than Jay Haze. Totally charmed by Djebali’s warm and fluid style, his first EP ‘Fanfare’ was released on Jay’s label Tuning Spork in 2008. Releases on Freak n’Chic followed, the inaugural label of quality Parisian house talent, delivering his 4 track ‘LAX EP’ to wide critical acclaim. With ‘Sorry, I Missed The Sky’, Djebali further cemented his signature smooth, organic house sound.

2011 saw the launch of ( djebali ), a limited vinyl series of only his music, produced, arranged and mixed exclusively on analogue ears. Currently on release 07, the independent creative outlet can boast this is house music as fresh as it comes, hot from the studio straight onto ( djebali ) wax. Also appearing as a remixer for Jozif on Culprit LA and Inland Knights for Homecoming Music, there’s 
reworks to look forward to later this year for Jef K’s Silver Network, Politics of Dancing and Turquoise Blue.

Pushing the scene forward in his hometown, Djebali has brought the likes of The Mole, Premiesku, 
dOP, Maayan Nidam and Bill Patrick to Paris for his residency party Ideal Juice at Social Club, with more to come including the highly talented Martinez Bros. As always he continues as an international player with gigs taking him as far afield as Womb Tokyo to Kazantip, whilst summer 
2013 will see Djebali relocating once again to the White Isle, sure to be found at his beloved DC10 
Ibiza.

The Used + Abused Radio Show, which will be broadcast across the island is undoubtedly the most hotly-anticipated new addition to Ibiza Global Radio’s schedule this Summer. Hosted by Desolat label-head Loco Dice the hour long show will feature the finest new music to be heard anywhere on the Island, as well as exclusive interviews and mixes from a host of high-calibre guests – most of whom will play the Used + Abused party the following Thursday at Ushuaia. 

With guests yet to be announced, keep your ears open and your dials turned to 97.6FM Ibiza Global Radio to hear first hand another innovative and electrifying artistic experience brought to you Used + Abused.
