Hillary's Harem Mixtape#2

DJ Playto is a DJ/Producer/Sound Eng. & Label Boss/Founder & Artist from Johannesburg, South Africa.

He has been handing out mix tapes since the 6th grade in the early 90's for his music class to listen to that he recorded from elder club going friends & family.

He later, in high school, grew into a rhythm guitarist in a band called "The Strait Jackets". They didn't last very long as they only possessed 2 guitars & a kick drum + school night curfews :) haha.

All this was just prior to the rave movement that swept the world in the mid 90's.

As this wave crashed Playto innately took to the turntables and played various gigs & house parties around Johannesburg until landing a residency in Dec ‘00 at Johannesburg's infamous, underground, after-hours nightclub Hideout, where he remained a resident for a few years delivering deep, tech-tribal progressive records to the dark strobe lit dance floor weekend after weekend.

All this transpired at the young & green age of only 20 years old while playing to a NO under 23's dance floor & club. It was there that he got his official grooming & stripes in the point blank club DJ role & fondly became referred to as the country’s #1 up & coming DJ talent.

This naturally led to the more studio orientated projects which spawned into Playto's debut release, "Soul Oasis" on the local Mafioso label Glo-tech Africa, which climbed the Top 20 International Mp3 download charts, while performing around other trendsetting dance floors in & around SA namely, The Gallery (Cape Town), Nexus (Johannesburg) at their legendary “Slippery & Wet” events, Truth (Johannesburg), the very 1st Earthdance Festival (Johannesburg) & Flyhouse (Johannesburg) amongst others.

This led to other releases this time on an Italian label called Celatum (Which is Latin for "secret') with an EP titled "Duality" with some singles off the release featuring on a CD compilation by the label.

Playto's other works, "Alxhemy" under the moniker The Royal Hearts Klub was picked up by the massively influential Belgian label of the 90’s & early ‘00’s; Bonzai Progressive; where he was stable mates with Moshic (TLV) amongst others; the song was released as a single some time before the UK based, XOYO label nite connoisseurs, We Scream Records, released a 4 track EP of Playto's in 2015.

2022; after an extended hiatus due to personal challenges; sees the official launch of Sygnal Musique (which has been almost a decade in the making), his pet label project, whose founding ethos; in part; aims to bridge the gap between listening & dancing while maintaining an uncompromising attitude towards musical integrity & cutting edge sounds.

Coming ’23 - '24 …. RePresent - A Sygnal Musique Showcase - Proudly a fringe sub club-culture concept.

The label has a string of releases lined-up for late November, all through December & January '23 going well into ’24 if all the chips may fall as we envisage ;) ... Stay tuned…
