“He just keeps on getting better and better” was how Graham Norton described unsigned Soul singer Sam Dickinson to over 4 million listeners during the premier of his last single, ‘When You Left Me, on BBC Radio 2. He’s unique. It’s often a phrase banded around when describing an artist, but Sam Dickinson IS unique. The openly LGBT singer has been compared to vocal greats like Sam Smith and Jimmy Sommervile, was the highest charting unsigned soul artist on iTunes when he released his debut album ‘The Stories That Occurred’ and presents his own radio show on the LGBT radio station Pride Radio. 

It was all going well for him, then he took a year away from the music industry. Why? He started suffering from anxiety and depression. He withdrew from promotional activities and began the healing process. The resulting time away is the amazing new three part EP series called 'From The Glass House' and the upcoming second album called 'Off Script'. With a new sound, he is blending the genres of disco, soul and 90′s beats alongside the heartfelt lyrics he has come to be known by. He is working with a new songwriting team and is creating empowering anthems which is the best music of his career. 

The autumn of 2018 saw the release of his first single in five years, ‘Wild Sun’, which blended orchestration, modern production and disco flavours. The track received 80,000 streams, views and downloads combined making it Dickinson's most successful single yet. New single, 'All We Are' is another classic in the making.

Like we said, Sam Dickinson is unique. It’s about time you discovered for yourself.

I am a guitarist. I compare myself to an actor which I suppose makes me a "character" guitarist. I have been very fortunate to land some very exciting roles in my career thus far (see discography) but the most significant has been working with Sting since 1990. This collaboration kind of defines my career and is why I am often referred to as "Sting's guitarist", an association or title I am still very proud of. Together we have recorded 8 albums, performed over 1,200 concerts, and co-written a few songs, most notably "Shape of my Heart". He keeps me busy and our journey continues.

When I am not working with Sting or other artists I maintain a career recording and touring with my band and playing solo concerts. I don't have much of a life outside of music but I am a father to six, some of whom are musicians.
