We venture back to the other side of the world with Aussie based AHJU, bringing the heat for the next hour. Mixmag premiered her incredibly infectious single 'Cause I' way back in December last year with some stellar remixes from Maruwa and 1-800 Girls, and after providing some class mixes for both Halycon Wax and Triple J, we had to make it happen.

With a strong discography from the likes of Workshop, Third Ear and Lobster Theremin, Luke Palmer aka Ozel AB has been turning heads in the realms of leftfield house and techno since 2014. Now putting out the first offering on his own self-titled label in May we are delighted to premiere one of these four new tracks from the man himself. Series Parallel is 5mins and 25 seconds of raw bleep styled techno that brings you back to a 90's warehouse with a fitting subtle cut up vocal throughout and an addictive bassline to match. "It's very direct, danceable club music, anchored stylistically between Electro, Techno and Industrial/NewWave, strongly influenced by '80s acts Liaisons Dangereuses, CH BB, sporadically, DAF and the Consumed /Concept period of Richie Hawtin." is how Hanno Leichtmann describes his new project Gesetz Der Oktaven. "The name 'Gesetz Der Oktaven' was chosen because I wanted something very German sounding, as we say 'sperrig', something technical, scientific. All the track titles are very old skool or obsolete studio/audio terms. "I wanted a completely new set-up, so I got a large Soundtracs desk from the 80s with 16 channels and, crucially 6 Aux Sends for effects." He continues, "The large number of aux sends was essential for the project. I used a drum machine, a MiniMoog sequenced by a TB 303, a vintage Drum Synth and six 6 effect combinations for the delay / reverb tracks. All very old-skool and in real time with no plugins. It took months of trial and error but the result is a very beautiful high-quality vintage studio sound."

Gesetz Der Oktaven - Verpolung - Third Ear Recordings

An intense introspection of sound deconstructionism and spacial dissonance presented in this 4 track (plus 2 lock grooves) EP entitled Nonharmonic Beautifault. 

The A Side is introduced with the track 'Blank Hand', a sludge fuelled walk into dusty audio bites and asthmatic rhythms, topped with screaming hoovers and TV static that at once builds up, collapses into beautiful cacophony. Leading us into the 'Body Molecule' - A rushing pad and sparkling percussion pinned to a rolling kick pattern that drives this track toward a central point of attacking synths and swarming soundscape. The run out locked groove features a deep distorted kick that loops into infinity. 

The other side starts with 'Angular Beautifault'. Acidic Rhythms and Buzz Saw Synths all washed together into a shimmering reverberated cavern that explodes with high powered clap patterns and bubbling 303 lines. Following this we have 'The Burin' - an uncompromising, high paced assault of power kicks and slanted percussion. Incessantly driving and unyielding towards the final lock groove of distorted sub loop. 

Nonharmonic Beautifault represents a shift in Positive Centre's work that aims beyond the delicate ambience into harder and darker sound territories. 

Nonharmonic Beautifault EP will be released on 12" vinyl and digital on February 19.

Parallel Minds is a new Toronto-based collective of musicians, DJs, and graphic artists bringing compelling music and art to the major Canadian city.

For their inaugural VA release, the label's three co-founders - Ciel, Daniel 58 and Yohei S. - offer up four diverse cuts of house, breakbeat, and hardcore that will "energize your body and comfort your soul."

Ahead of the release on April 11, Ciel has handed over the EP's A1 track 'Hind Sight is 360' - a 134 bpm tune with wistful pads, bubbly percussion and coarse lows. The charming dancefloor track features all of the trademark production characteristics that make Ciel one of the most compelling producers in the scene today.

White Material crew’s @galcher-lustwerk and @alvin-aronson return under the guise of Studio OST with a 4-track EP of live jams on Lustwerk Music. While the pair’s critically acclaimed 2016 debut ‘Scenes (2012-2015)’ leaned towards home listening, ’EVENTIDE / ASCENSION’ shifts the focus back to the dancefloor with two chugging cinematic house tracks. ‘Eventide’ is an evolving nebula of fluttering pads and lush percussion, while ‘Ascension’’s hot-electric drums are complimented by sharp synth chords that unfurl into controlled chaos. A beatless version of ‘Eventide’ and a drums only version of ‘Ascension’ sweeten the deal.
