An unreleased remix of a Schneider TM song I made together with Wio. It was actually based on live recordings we made on cassette when we were at the Hausmusik Festival in Landsberg, I believe in 1999.

Köhn is the electronica-bedroom-project from Jugen De Blonde. His first music was basic guitarpop, but, without throwing his guitar out completely, he discovered the possibilities of a sampler. A first cd was released on (K-RAA-K)3, filled with a lot of weird skippings and bleeps. Foreign press hyped the guy so much it resulted in a several concerts through Europe and a "request" support act for Sonic Youth in Brussels. And indeed, Köhn is one of the few electronic acts which is really enjoyable and refreshing to see performing. Jurgen De Blonde is still involved in a dozen other projects/bands and he also made some remixes but Köhn has always been his main project, so we kinda trusted it. Now the second album is finished. It took him a long time but we think it was worth the waiting. His live-concerts annouced it already: a big step forward has been taken from his debut cd. The new album is more mature and warm. He experiments with beats and melodies like he is born to do nothing other then that. Strange sonorities keep you allerted and make you want to check your hifi-system. A couple of guitars and vocals break down the barriers between electronix and songs. Skippings and scratches result in zigzag melodies. His soundlibrary won\'t sound familiar but if you listen closely, you\'ll discover real popmusic. Where electronic bands like Oval, Noto, Farmers Manual mainly focus on pure sound, Köhn explores that field into structured soundclashing and real songs. So, you'll have some kind of dancetracks, ambientsounds deconstructed by Musique Concrete and Pavement. We just hope you can feel as excited as we are.

Dit is het langverwachte debuut van dit Belgische wonderkind. “I can see where i am now" is een soort van “Greatest Hits"-album met enkele van onze favoriete Wiosongs. Maar eigenlijk is het veel meer. Zijn stem brengt de Jefferies broertjes terug in herinnering en het is heerlijk wegdromen op de instrumentale stukken. Samples, loops, violen, een VPRO live track, drums, zachte en harde gitaren vormen samen een geheel die doen denken aan het beste uit de folk- en lo-figeschiedenis. Een variatie aan geluiden die je doen lachen, huilen en dansen. Een co-release met het Zweedse Slowball

Muzikanten vergeten soms de aandacht direct naar te luisteraar te richten. Dit is juist waar Wio zich in specialiseert: hij heeft iets te zeggen. Elke song vertelt een ander verhaal, net als een sprookje van Grimm. Soms heel lief, soms bedreigend. Wio verspeelt geen tijd. Zijn muziek is direct en het doel is voor iedereen zichtbaar.?Luister gewoon naar zijn stem, fluisterend, maar toch voor iedereen hoorbaar. Zijn gitaarlicks resulteren in zulke mooie songs dat je je af vraagt waarom hij zich niet in dezelfde afdeling bevindt als Nick Drake, Flying Saucer Attack, (vroege) Smog of Alastair Gallbraith. Zijn tweede album op (K-RAA-K)3 is simpel weg alles wat er van verwacht werd. Natuurlijk is het niet allemaal pure songwriting, maar probeert hij op zijn eigen manier het gat te vullen tussen experiment, pop en pure lovesongs. Zijn eerste album was echt lo-fi, dit is dan weer echt hi-fi en tevens zijn eerste echte album (aangezien zijn vorige een verzameling van tapes en radiosessies was). Wio is de nummer 1 als het aankomt op onversneden emotie.

Finally Jürgen (aka Köhn) long awaited "pop" album sees the light off day. It really is not so far off what he does with Köhn but guitars, and vocals certainly get more attention.  Lots of  people will be surprised with the high quality of songs, but those who are familiar with the strange Köhn structures will certainly dig this too.  A diffrent angle, a diffrent view... Dr. Pop kicks back right in the balls.  Lovely album.  Another star shining on the (tomlab)lab-tree
