Although now relocated from his native Yorkshire to his new home of Majorca, James Welsh continues to be one of the most captivating producers in UK house music. Taking in true deep and tech, acid, techno and soulful strands, his impressively varied productions impress whatever flavour he plumbs for. He's graced many of the UK's finest imprints in just a few years, from Hypercolour to Futureboogie to Wolf, labels snapping his hands off to get his tracks into their catalogues. His mix is full of energy and life, a snapshot of his career to date with a quick look ahead to the future woven in.

*How would you describe your sound?*
I would describe my sound as music that can hopefully be enjoyed out of the club as well as in dark rooms at 3 AM.

*What and who inspires you and influences your sound?*
My friends and family inspire me. I'm happiest when my friends like my
music.

*Can you tell us a little about this mix and what it means to you?*
This mix goes back 3 years to my first release, covering some releases and
remixes in between and up to my next release which is out this month. It could
be considered the 'end of an era' as all these tracks were conceived in West Yorkshire and I'm now living in sunny Mallorca.

With end of year lists slowly starting to trickle out, there's one track in particular we find that's absent from some of the bigger sites, despite having what could be considered a decent summer. Championed by both Joy Orbison and Scuba in each of their respected Essential mixes, snippets of new untitled Endian teased the notion that a follow up to his Electric Minds and NonPlus releases would be forthcoming in the near future. Having debuted on the Radio 1 airwaves in July 2014, it wasn't till early May 2015 that the track got a name and a confirmed release date on London based label Secretsundaze. Titled 'Finish Me' the track, would go on to become one of our favourite summer anthems (as mentioned here) and acquire a near-omnipresent status in clubs and at festivals up and down the country over the summer period, while still remaining in some way an underground sleeper-hit. We'd like to think the nod to his roots, and other revered alias, struck a chord or possibly two with all the jungle enthusiasts out there, as well as appealing to the house and techno crowd. While the A side explored more club-friendly territory with its melodic aspects and billowing breakdown, the B side's "Dusty" and "Sub Tropics" provided a much more rooted warehouse affair; taking his technical skill and experience as Commix and and channeling it into the confines of 130BPM. His use of subtle melodies and pads, reminiscent of 90s jungle/drum and bass LPs have made for well received tracks like "Birdhouse" and "Two Chords Deep", the latter being one of his early attempts at using a proper hardware setup to explore his techno and house productions, and arguably still one of his best tracks.

STYLSS Recipe 028: Mike G’s Trippy Chorizo Breakfast Tacos

Ingredients:

6 oz chorizo sausage
8 flour tortillas (6 inch size)
¼ cup milk
dash pepper
dash salt
½ cup fresh jalapenos (diced and not those pickled kind - the raw ones)
1 cup shredded jack cheese
Cholula brand hot sauce (or any you prefer)
½ cup fresh salsa
Directions:

Crumble chorizo into a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook and stir until brown. 
Whisk together the eggs, milk, salt and pepper in a medium sized bowl. Heat a pan to medium heat and spray with some cooking spray, and pour in the eggs. Cook and stir until almost firm. Add chorizo, and continue cooking and stirring until firm.
Warm tortillas for about 45 seconds per side in the seperate high heat skillet until warm and pliable.
Sprinkle some shredded cheese onto each tortilla while it is still hot. Top with some of the scrambled egg and chorizo, then add diced jalapenos, hot pepper sauce and salsa to your liking.

STYLSS Recipe 029: WD4D’s Key Lime Pie

Ingredients:

1 - Graham Cracker Pie Crust
1 - 14oz Can Sweetened Condensed Milk
½ Cup - Key Lime Juice (Nelly & Joe’s works well)
3 - Egg Yolks (separate whites & save)
Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Brush pie crust w/ unused egg whites & bake for 10min or until golden brown.
Blend sweetened condensed milk w/ key lime juice & egg yolks until smooth.
Pour into pie crust & put back into oven w/ filling for 15min at 350 degrees.
Take out & let cool 30-45min (refrigerate when cool enough to touch w/ hands)
Break out some whip &/or ice cream, and cool out Key Lime style!

For the 30th installment of the STYLSS Mix Series we invited Beijing 北京, China resident & prolific electronic musician HOWIE LEE to join us. He picked out some chill tracks he has been feeling, some emotional/soft stuff from his Howie Lee project as well as some music from his other alias, Cantonese Girl.

STYLSS Recipe 030: Howie Lee’s Thai Green Curry Chicken

Ingredients:

1 x Coconut Milk
¼ cup chopped lemongrass 
¼ cup chopped basil leaves
1 thumb-size ginger, sliced 
2 tablespoons fish sauce
4 tablespoon thai green curry paste
1 tablespoon brown sugar
2 cups vegetables of your choice
1 pound boneless chicken 
Directions:

Bring a large pan, heat the oil until very hot, then drop in the ginger and fry until golden. 
Spoon in the curry paste and stir for few seconds. 
Put the chicken in then stir for 1 minutes until chicken turn white. 
Next, pour in the coconut milk.
Stir in the fish sauce,sugar and lemongrass, then slow cook for 10 minutes. 
Tip in the vegetables and let it cook for another 10 minutes. 
After that, turn off the heater and put the basil leaves into the curry, quickly stir. 
Eat with boiled thai rice & enjoy with friends.

For the 31th installment of the STYLSS Mix Series we invited Philadelphia, PA but soon to be Chicago, IL resident & one of my personal favorite forward thinking club producers in the game right now, Neal Dexter aka KRUEGER to join us. He has been pushing a distinct club sound with his Teamwerk imprint since his first EP ‘Galactica’ was released in 2011 via Silverback Recording. Later releasing a sophomore EP ’40oz Bounce’ on Paradisiaca, & dropping a plethora of quality remixes & collabs throughout the years, he’s gained attention & support from majors like A-Trak, Rustie, TNGHT, Baauer, Obey City, Two Fresh, Dirty South Joe, Ana Sia, DJ Shiftee, Lockah, & Doctor Jeep to name drop a few that got his back. We heard he’s moving to Chicago soon, it’ll be exciting to hear where he takes his style next.

STYLSS Recipe 031:  Schnitzel a la Krueger

Ingredients:

4 boneless chicken breast
4 cups of bread Crumbs
1/½ cups flour
Salt & pepper
2 large eggs
Butter
Thyme
Parmesan Cheese
Directions:

Mix bread crumbs, thyme, and parmesan cheese in medium bowl. Salt to taste.
Crack eggs in medium sized bowl and scramble.
Coat chicken breasts in flour, dip in eggs, and coat chicken with breadcrumbs.
Heat large skillet and melt butter.
Add chicken to skillet.
Brown both sides of chicken and cook through.
Enjoy with ketchup, hot sauce, honey mustard, or literally what ever you want.

3 tomatoes chopped
1 small can black olives drained (you can buy them sliced)
1 small jar green olives sliced
1 can chopped green chili
Chopped green onion (scallions?)
¼ cup oil
salt and pepper
Chill and Serve with tortilla chips!

For the 34th installment of the STYLSS Mix Series we invited Bay Area weirdo, a prolific producer & OG STYLSS affiliate Aaron Triggs aka BLEEP BLOOP to join us. He has been pushing a very unique sub-genre of bass music up & down the west coast & throughout the internet for awhile now. The founder of 710 Records with releases on Sound Plexus, Saturate! Records, Robox Neotech, & STYLSS under his belt, he has written tunes with DJ Shadow, Starkey, G Jones, DNAE Beats/Patrick Sexx & more along the way. The future is weird because Bleep Bloop is the future.

STYLSS Recipe 034: Bleep Bloop’s Unkosher Matzah Brei

Serves 2 people who like to eat.

Ingredients:

6 Eggs
3-4 Pieces of Matzah, depending on size
1/3 Pound of Bacon
Strawberry Jam (any flavor acceptable)
Sour Cream
Salt n Peppa
Directions:

Scramble the eggs in a bowl.
Run cold water over the matzah to soften, then crumble matzah into tiny little pieces with your hands and stir into eggs to soak.
Fry bacon in a pan until fully crispy.
Break/chop the bacon into little bits and set aside.
Pour out some most of the bacon grease from the pan, leaving just enough to cook some eggs.
Pour the eggs and matzah into the pan scrambling as you go.  make sure to keep its constantly moving and chopping it up in the pan.  you want it to cook everywhere fast so it can still be a little moist.
Serve and eat it covered in bacon bits, jam, and sour cream, with salt n peppa.

For the 35th installment of the STYLSS Mix Series we invited 20 year old hip hop producer/rapper Þórður Ingi Jónsson aka LORD PUSSWHIP to join us. He has been taking the Icelandic hip hop scene by storm with his lush, psychedelic and confrontational sounds. Inspired mainly by chopped ‘n’ screwed, horror films & females, Pusswhip has already produced for quite a few names in the underground rap world working with people like Antwon, Prada Mane, Metro Zu, Onoe Caponoe & Th@ Kid. His music mixes drugged-out VHS nostalgia with the sneer & explosiveness of punk rock.

“For this mix I imagined a party scenario where everything is really turnt up but then everyone leaves except for a few super chilled peeps so the tempo goes down. There’s some unreleased stuff on here like a track I did with Chris Barron, the singer from Spin Doctors, a track featuring Portuguese producer RAP/RAP/RAP and a Juicy J remix just for fun.”

STYLSS Recipe 035: GRANDMA PUSSWHIP’S TARTALETTES

Ingredients:
60/40 mayonnaise / sour cream mix (one serving)
Garlic power
Curry powder
Pre-cooked baby shrimp
Directions:
Bake in tartalette cups (preferably round) covered with Edam cheese until you have a lil’ brown glaze on the cheese!
Notes: 
Grandma made the best tartalettes ever. They’re delicious if you get it right. Her favorite thing to do was to sit and look at people walking by which is kinda sweet if you think about it.
