Suara Showroom releases are a good example of the current kind of dancefloor sound we want for the label. Quality music above all, with techno influences, some melodic shapes, great vocals, low-frecuencies fuelled basslines, sharp hi-hats… Four great tracks with their own character: Artbat goes into some kind of electro-pop sounds that fits in a wide range of club sessions. Jerome Isma-Ae & Tone Depth land with an intense track, full of synth harmonic layers and a big bassline. Stas Drive & Mystep count on lovely Cari Golden's voice for another potential hit. Paul Anthonee, Haze-M, Inner Rebels and Haptic on vocal duties delivered something epic, hypnotic and up-to-date. We have this time three raw, powerful techno cuts: big kick drums, low-frequency basslines, sharp synth sequences. A dreamy pad and some shakers lead the Victoria.52s track, perfect to build some introspective landscapes in late night sets. British producer Mark Jenkyns joins Hottrax with two separate collaborations alongside vocalist MIZBEE and Ecuador’s Andre Salmon titled ‘Sirens’. 

Having released on Hot Creations, Suara, Of Unsound Mind, Rebellion, Lost Records and Resonance Records, Mark Jenkyns has unquestionably established himself as one of the most sought after producers in modern day house music. As a DJ Jenkyns is a regular name on the line-ups of Paradise Ibiza, when not making appearances at the likes of The Warehouse Project, Lightbox, Digital, Egg and BPM Festival. 

Snappy snares and a meandering bassline lay the foundation for ‘Sirens’ as it continues to generate an infectious rhythm alongside MIZBEE’s scintillating vocal; luring listeners in much like the mythological creature that inspired the track title. Teaming up with Andre Salmon - who’s released on Repopulate Mars, Leftroom and Resonance - ‘Hey Honey’ is a trippy number complete with a heady groove, chopped-up vox samples and synth stabs that’s destined to inject life into any dancefloor it’s dropped.

The always lively duo Township Rebellion bring a breeze of mystery to The Escape on the A side. The initial unrelenting cachet of the composition subsides, only to be replaced with winding synths and zippy glitches that convey an enhanced air of urgency.

Berliner house and techno 90s proponent Marco Resmann takes on Reborn After The Road, in a percussion-heavy reinterpretation with subtle nods to rave-centric, cavernous electronica.

Several Definitions’ album creation journey has been fruitful, and despite the length of the initial tracklist, we see a new creation emerge for the first time. Driving Bassline channels a monotonous vocal on an gyrating synth backdrop, powerful and spell-binding at the same time.

Kellerkind puts his mark on the resolute Dancing with the Valkyrie, giving it a new life by the way of clanging percussion. Playful drums intertwine with placid synths, shaping up one of the more interesting pieces on the release.

Fur Coat’s Oddity label starts 2021 with a fresh edition of the acclaimed various artists “Odd Echoes Vol.4”. This instalment showcases some artists that are already known to the label, as well as many new additions to the family.

Fur Coat’s commitment to their label over the last few years has seen the imprint amass a dedicated following and an ever growing list of respected and lauded releases. Utilising their Various Artists compilations, the duo have unearthed some extremely exciting talent in this world and given emerging artists a platform to exhibit their craft.

Diving into the package we are greeted with the melodic and emotional sounds that Oddity has their recognisable stamp. Its clear though that each artist involved has developed their own signature sound and presents something unique to the VA. The first half is formed of well crafted tracks which ease us into the sound. Tracks the build and develop over time and help to kick start out musical exploration.

In true Oddity style the second half of the package leans towards darker and more driving pieces. Casting the listeners mind to the dancefloors which the tracks were meant to be played on. Its a VA formed of 21 original tracks mostly from first timers on the label, that all together solidify the identity of the series and sound of Oddity.
