Followers of Instigate will remember Rob's collaborative effort with Step-A-Side on the title track of the Hollow EP. He returns to the label with an EP packed entirely with his own productions showcasing a much more delicate and melodic side to the Extorted Minds sound.

Thinking outside of the box has unlocked new production patterns and resulted in a totally unique and immersive listening experience for those fortunate enough to be familiar with the Extorted Minds sound. 

Opening the EP, ‘Sorrow’ gives off early warning signs that this is not your typical minimal 140 release. Ambience flows through the track like a river and to say it goes as deep would be nothing short of a massive understatement. 

Experimenting with a steep drop in tempo for the second offering, ‘Vision’, Rob’s avant garde mindset to constructing his beats is demonstrated in fine style. With the kick drum playing mime to a beating heart, and an intensely spacey arrangement of reverberated plucked chords, be prepared to be gripped by this one right from the start. 

‘Oceans’ is a chilled out dubby number following the most closely to the contemporary 140 blueprint within the EP. Off beat chords ebb in and out of the track surrounded by a much more subtle version of the industrial percussion we’ve grown to know as a strong part of the Extorted Minds sound. 

The title track, ‘Control Me’, draws the EP to close featuring the vocal talents of Mancunian MC, Master Procrastinator. Defiant, self assured lyrics draped over the spacial, etherial backdrop of one of Rob’s finest melodic works to date serves as both the perfect spokes-track for the release and an ideal finishing point, leaving us all hungry to see what he has in store for us in the future.
