House of Spirits is the church of sound over which Tom Noble presides, raising the congregation to ecstatic heights from his pulpit of passion.

Noble’s initial attempts at making music began like most collectors-cum-producers, lifting samples from worn records and repurposing the dusty beats into efficient edits. Instead of lumbering in these limitations, Noble opted for a greater challenge by inviting musicians to transform his sketches into a widely – and wildly – dynamic live performance. The resulting studio celebration led to the euphoric Holding On / Keep Holding On 12” for Beats In Space Records.

“Holding On” glides on such a joyous, eventful groove that it’s impossible to confine the track to a specific time or place. Strings, seemingly lifted from a 70s Salsoul twelve, soar alongside a gospel choir preaching positivity for souls both lost and found. Buoyed by a bass lick fat with funk’s sin and guitars glittering in solid gold, “Holding On” embraces disco house authentically and timelessly.

On the flip, Aaron Coyes of Peaking Lights tucks the heavenly wonder of the original under a dub-worn blanket for an out-of-body dream beam. The power of Noble’s composition retains full form against the free-flowing disembodiment of the performers, melting into one amorphous, hustling and bustling entity held together at the whim of Coyes at the controls.

Each 12″ from Beats in Space Records features original artwork in considerate and serial form. Tom Noble adorns Holding On with the fluorescent sigil of a late night romance. The 12″ packaging constructed by Will Work For Good features a removable vinyl BIS logo cling.

House of Spirits’ Holding On / Keep Holding On (Peaking Lights Dub) 12” will be released on May 20, 2014 on Beats In Space as a limited edition 12” and digitally.

Since its inception in 2013, Mawimbi founders have been expanding their knowledge of lesser known and rather undiscovered musical territories thanks to chance encounters with likeminded DJs/producers, who were kind enough to put them onto a good amount of under-the-radar tropical gems. 

Launched in 2017 and named after Mawimbi's bi-monthly radio show on Rinse France, the "Radio Mawimbi" compilation series is dedicated to unearthing vintage tropical gems in the form of free download edits and remixes by some of the most seasoned diggers and promising rookies of the tropical-enthusiast community! 

From deep, drum-heavy workouts to essential Guinea Bissau melancholy, through remixed Beninese afrofunk and vintage South African kwaito, this second installment features the editing and remixing work of Yeahman (Frente Bolivarista), LSD (Love Saves The Day), Déni Shain (Antagana Records), Umoja, Mawimbi, ATW (Around The World), Calisto, Turbo Boom-Boom (TBB) and Midnight Ravers.

Italian producer and multi-instrumentalist who lives shuttling between Berlin and his hometown Aosta, in Italy.
sUb_modU released his debut EP "Circles" on BBE on 2014, followed by a self-released single in 2018. Since 2020 with the Tru Thoughts label he released the EP "Pidgin Synths" and his debut album "Descent To The Centre" released on September 17, 2021.

Following on from “Pidgin Synths EP”, a releases that entangled a homage to afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti with synth-heavy original material, sUb_modU has amassed an impressive list of tastemaker support through his unique reinterpretations, from the likes of Gilles Peterson (BBC 6Music), Ross Allen (NTS) and Virgil Abloh (Off White). Alongside the release of his debut album is a special edition, double A side single, 7” featuring an exclusive 45 Centre Edit of the iconic “Expensive Shit” paired with a sUb_modU original “RAM Generation”.
