JahYu: the Korean word for ‘freedom’, this is an artist whose music is rooted in the notion of freedom, freedom of sound, freedom of expression, freedom from mind and freedom of the soul. JahYu uses his creative freedom to connect directly with his ancestors and create music that somehow transports the listener through time and space. Oriental flute and string melodies slide effortlessly amongst powerful roots-based dubstep, creating a sound that is unique and full of flavour. This enigmatic Korean-German producer blends both sides of his heritage, the digital steppers that emerged from Europe in the 1990’s alongside the traditional oriental music of his mother’s homeland, Korea, augmented by a deeper exploration of contemporary bass music. It is said that JahYu’s family descend from the same lineage of Go Jumong, the founder of the great Goguryeo Kingdom of the Far East, a people renown for their ancestral worship and unique musical expression. Goguryeo music was even adopted as official court music for the powerful Sui and Tang dynasties of China, many times throughout history these Chinese dynasties were at war with Goguryeo, however, the music of the enemy, Goguryeo, was still able to flourish in China and has been consistently performed across Asia for hundreds of years. Perhaps this explains the majestic qualities of JahYu’s music. JahYu’s productions provide us with the opportunity to discover our ancestral roots through music. Roots music is not a sound, it is a feeling and a feeling that JahYu is able to evoke with profound intensity.

JahYu, the German musician known for  his stellar dub music released on the  highly respected Steppas and Trigram-serie,  would like to extend his love for  dub and dubstep music through his  newly established Tripedal Crow imprint.  This allows the producer to transport the  balance of earth-shaking bass, drums  and authentic melodies – a Universal Sound that is rootikal, conscious, diverse  and specifically made for sound systems.

As founder, JahYu aims at exhibiting his  interpretation of 'Universal Sound In The  Lineage Of The Sun'. The spiritual  message that is embedded in each cut of  the ‘Circumfluent Spirits’ EP signifies that  music is a way to achieve inner harmony  and to feel the balance in all living things.

The Tripedal Crow symbolizes the sun in  ancient Korean history and goes  peacefully with Roots & Culture. To keep  the message in the music and the music  in the message, it contains the both  Asian and Rastafarian culture rooted  idea of unity. Each cut also holds the  balance of the soft Yin and the hard  Yang: The hard Yang tone takes the  spiritual, the soft Yin tone the  entertaining and appeasing part.

‘Angkor Wat’ opens smoothly, whistling  itself through a wistful landscape of Asian bass & organics. JahYu submits  his signature sound that will compel true  lovers of dub. The four elements of  nature come alive in ‘Forces of Nature’,  as listeners are engulfed in bass, love  and earth-binding spiritualism. ‘Karma’ is  equally as meditative, hypnotising dub fanatics with flutes, booming drum work  and intelligent panning techniques. ‘Wing  Beat’ closes down ‘TCR001’ with truly  glorious dub programming, highlighting  peace, unity and Korean history together.

The first Tripedal Crow chapter released on both  physical and digital format underlines forward thinking  music that holds a both conscious and subliminal  message. JahYu’s ‘Circumfluent Sprits’ EP reveals this  in its purest form, making ‘TCR001’ a release anyone  should relive on a proper sound system. Who Loves You?

The black bird roared loudly from atop the chimney. It looked out upon the grassy fields which lay at the base of the house below. It cast an eerie shadow across the roof on which it sat, it was a haunted beast, a devilish instrument of witchcraft and pain. It's squawking could be heard for far and wide and it brought trouble across the land. Symbollic and hateful the crow would fly now, leaving with it a cursed trail of suffering and despair in its wake.

In 2017, Lagartijeando (Mati Zundel), released his second full length album ‘El Gran Poder,’ via Wonderwheel and subsequently hypnotized the masses with the way he laced the traditional Charango playing that he picked up traveling the Andes with the pulsing, digital-cumbia electronica that’d been popularized in the region by the likes of Chancha Via Circuito, Nicola Cruz, and beyond. El Gran Poder plucked Zundel from his small town of Dolores in Argentina and catapulted his sound onto a global stage. He was revered by the likes of The Fader and Bandcamp, who referred to him as an electro-folk alchemist - and that he is. 

On June 7, Lagartijeando casts a new spell with Jallalla, an ambitious new full length being released on Wonderwheel Recordings. For 3 years, Subatomic Sound Radio blasted out to a footprint of eleven million terrestrial listeners in the greater NYC area on KEXP's Radio New York broadcast, 91.5fm and also via BrooklynRadio.com  

Subatomic Sound System has toured throughout N. America, Europe, & Asia  including with Lee Scratch Perry at NYC's Central Park, RBMA NYC, Poland's One Love, and Moscow's Milk with John Forte.
