After two much-sought-after releases from DJ Chupacabra (@davidepirasmusic), Carpet’s (@carpetandsnares)Steps series just had to come back with a third. ‘Finissage’ and ‘Subsonic’ on the A both live up to their steppy billing, the beats dipping and diving in and out of pads and samples that nod unashamedly to UK garage and dubstep. On the B, ‘Wooded’ is a new-school minimal groover for a housier crowd, while ‘Dranzer’ rounds things off with massive bass, R&B-esque samples and just enough of a pinch of acid.

Fly By Night kick off 2022’s proceedings with Departure, the second V/A from the label, as FBN010. Departure reflects the full spectrum of the ever-changing UK music sphere, exploring the depths of leftfield dance music, whilst remaining distinctly club-focussed.
FBN010 sees the return of some familiar faces to the label, alongside some exciting fresh faces. Broadly spanning system-rattling, breaks-infused, vocal-stuttering tracks, Departure sets the tone for the year ahead.
All profits raised from FBN010 will go towards UK-based charity Sister Supporter. Sister Supporter is a pro-choice, anti-harassment organisation, who are working towards achieving a national solution to allow those who wish to exercise their legal right to healthcare to do so without interference and judgement. Fly By Night’s Departure V/A is their first release of 2022 and will be out on all digital platforms on Friday 4th March.

Exclusive: Steve Bug - Ode To Wildpitch

Iconic artist Steve Bug takes it back to the old school with his Back To '95 EP on Will Saul's Aus Music label. The three tracker from the Berlin-based producers features two original tracks as well as a remix from the Queen of House Cinthie for the EP's title track, which features legendary NYC vocalist Mr. V. The EP's second original track is Ode To Wildpitch and, as the track title suggests, is a homage to one of Chicago's House Music luminaries, namely DJ Pierre and his musical legacy. However, the referred to Wild Pitch-sound was something the artist created when he moved to New York and this is were Steve Bug takes the listener back sound-wise. Some chords, a grooving bass line, few effects and we have a track that is as simple as catchy and ready to rock those dirty and sweaty floors it's meant to be played out. 

Steve Bug's EP  Back To '95 will be released on Aus Music on April 29th, 2022.
