How do you celebrate 25 years of a label that spent almost 20 of them in hibernation? 

Since the late 90s, Straight Up Breakbeat has stood for pure underground energy — jungle drum & bass driven by a love for the breaks. After a long hiatus, the label roared back to life half a decade ago, reconnecting the spirit of early jungle with today’s new wave of producers and listeners.

Now, 25 years since birth, we celebrate with States of Art — a deep dive into the global network of artists pushing the sound forward while staying true to its foundation.

Originally released across three vinyl EPs, compilation album unites the artists shaping the next wave of jungle and drum & bass worldwide. The expanded “25” Bandcamp edition adds key tracks from the label’s rebirth era, making it an essential best-of with, fittingly, 25 tracks in total.

Visual direction for the release comes from graffiti legend EGS, whose abstract, future-meets-street aesthetic defines the series visual identity. A limited run of hand-painted test presses, each individually numbered by EGS, completes this celebratory edition.
