Keeping the collective family vibe more than alive, Arkaik has rounded his troops up and put together his third EP for release on his homeland Diffrent Music. Paving the way forward for future releases on the label, we see
a record that show’s off Arkaik’s ability to maintain his exploration as a solo artist while adapting to the modern day art of collaborative production. ‘The Hustle EP’ features four brand new pieces of work that have been heard only a number of times on dancefloors around the UK, and are ready to go out to the masses. The title track is a offbeat stomper with Arkaik’s trademark sound, while ‘Babylon Dub’ see’s a more Hip­Hop orientated style with big bass and clean production. ‘Heat Seeker’ is the second collaboration to surface with Coma, and is a heavy hitting, fast paced dancefloor damager. The final track see’s Arkaik teaming up with Dexta & Mauoq, with a stripped back, big bass, head­nod track called ‘One Last Time’ which develops from a somewhat half time groove into full on 2­step second drop.

The Hustle EP will be released as a limited edition CD available exclusively from 12th May 2014 via the Diffrent Music HQ store (www.shop.diffrentmusic.com). Digital pre­orders from the Diffrent HQ shop will be delivered from 19th May 2014 and the full worldwide ‘official’ release date will be Monday 26th May 2014 on all good digital outlets.

Maztek’s Subculture label are back, shaking things up with their new release, the awe-inspiring Common Ground EP. This time around, the Italian imprint takes on a multi-artist approach, with tracks in the collection from Crimson, Offbeats, Wreckless, Neve, Bayou and Zubee. The range of talent on display shows just how hard the label work to secure the best artists who are releasing the hottest music. All of the producers add their own particular touches to their work, guaranteeing a quality and diversity which is hard to find elsewhere.

Crimson’s frankly huge Dub Specialist kicks things off, with its tough, sinewy approach to the sound. In between the winding, grinding bass, Crimson inserts some devastating beats, and creates an involving, invigorating soundscape, full of twists and turns. No better way to start the EP, Dub Specialist is truly the shape of things to come. Wreckless enters the Mist next, trading a light, flowing intro for a rolling, techy main section which brings in elements of classic-era techstep in the beats, whilst maintaining the atmosphere of the track with some amazing synths and samples. Amongst Wreckless’ best work to date, this one will keep you coming back for more.

Next, Offbeats slides in with Where Have You Gone, an urgent, skittering piece which enfolds you into its internal logic, breaking down walls and smashing speakers. Weighing in on the low end, Offbeats keeps everything tight with some precision engineering of vocals samples and effects. Finally, Neve, Bayou and Zubee all pour into the frighteningly good Get Frisky. Gliding down from a great height, this grimy monster finishes off the EP in style, with electronic beats surrounding a central core of funky, chugging bass, MC rhymes straight from the top of the dome and a clear ear for what is going to go off in the clubs.

We are very proud to confirm the release date and full tracklisting for the debut album from Maztek. Three Point Zero will be arriving on 15th December!

Based around the concept that we as a species have come to a point in our own evolution where man, machine and spirituality have all merged together, Maztek’s aptly named ThreePointZero explores the relationship between the real and the cyber world.

Featuring an array of well-chosen collaborations of both vocalists and producers alike – such as Dutch hip hop crew Dope D.O.D, Hardware / Virus’s BTK, Viper’s Insideinfo, Ram’s Audio, Italian new blood Disprove and vocalist MC Coppa. Maztek has created a cogent and extremely innovative long player that once again proves why DnB will never die.

The album will be available on 3xLP, digipak CD and digital formats. Also look out for exclusive album bundle deals avilable only from the Hardware store.

Rumours of the infernal mechanism were rife amongst the population, that somewhere deep in the sublevels of the city it waited with the eternal patience that belongs only to machines. It was said that those people whom the system had broken, whose minds had snapped – ejecting them from the social architecture… were first incarcerated, analyzed and then taken to it to be erased completely. He was about to find out the truth of this, dragged from his metallic cell by those machine claws, his arms bound tightly across his chest and vocal chords paralyzed. He wanted to scream, terror engulfing him and winding around his vertebrae, giving birth to a black hole within the pit of his stomach... but all that emerged was a whimper of despair. It was registered by the synthetic mind and catalogued in its vast archive of variations of this moment - its casual analysis of this journey to death. The chamber was incomprehensibly vast… and it was there waiting, reaching with its threatening appendages from the shadows, its diabolical jaws enshrouded in the dull green light of a vast viewing screen displaying the symbol of the architect. The teeth started that relentless slicing, the very ground trembling through the power of its mighty workings, the mechanism to be his absolute obliteration… those claws pulling him inexorably towards the end as the view screen changed and flashes the word ‘goodbye’. The GRINDER completes its work. In the almost oblivious streets above, a faint rumble is felt – knowing, fearful looks are briefly exchanged before the citizens hurry on with their business.
 
Apex neuro and tech producer MAZTEK arrives with his first full EP on leading d&b label, EATBRAIN. Following up appearances on the label’s Tales of the Undead and Mirror Universe VA LP’s, the GRINDER EP sees Maztek deliver 4 tracks of high-grade dancefloor weaponry, enwrapped in the kind of heavy sonic technology that his fans have come to expect. From the tear-out but tightly wound collaboration with with June Miller in BLAFFER, to the grime-influenced and glitched vocals of GOOD QUESTION that comes in heavy with the evil bounce of its bass – the EP runs a diverse and unique flex. Title-track GRINDER delivers an appropriately punishing assault, packed with sinister sound design and brooding, dynamic riff, whilst TANGLE delivers an edgy and lightly percussive shuffle to accompany its powerful bass. This is both an artist and a label at their best, delivering an overwhelmingly powerful artifact for the dance.
