The spacecraft burst into the galaxy in a flash of light, exiting the lanes of hyperspace with the grandeur that intergalactic travel of that sort demanded. Made of advanced neometal alloys, its hull seemed to shimmer and glisten with an iridescent glow that warped and refracted the light of nearby stars around the craft. To the naked eye it appeared as though a mirage, and even the advanced sensors of many spacefaring empires would have trouble locating its exact position amidst the surrounding chromatic milieu.

Hailing from uncertain origins, its appearance was spoken of in hushed tones within the war rooms of this galaxy’s nations, for it was not known to be either friend or foe and bore no identifying insignia to mark its place of construction. The subspace pace it proceeded at was not rushed but yet bore a certain urgency, as though the ship stalked some unknown quarry from afar. No hails had been returned and no attempts to scan its interior had borne fruit, and thus on the planets below populations watched with anxious awe as it continued on whilst praying that it did not take specific notice of their lives. Thus it was that what could only be called the STARSHIP entered into galactic knowledge, and none yet knew where its course might lead.

DESPERSION debuts his devious first EATBRAIN release with the STARSHIP EP, which brings the label’s horde to intergalactic heights across the three tracks contained within. A rising star form Russia, DESPERSION’s prior releases have landed on labels including SLK Records, Empire Recordings, and Neuropunk Recordings, the latter being the imprint label of Eatbrain regulars Gydra & Teddy Killerz. Channeling the sonic energy gathered from these prior experiences, the STARSHIP EP shoots by at breakneck speed, overflowing with sci-fi textures and devastating bassline bombardments that follow the trend set by its name.

Aufmerksamen Followern werden die beiden wunderprächtigen Bootlegs von Subrix Ende Dezember nicht entgangen sein. Nun folgt die Debüt-Single des umtriebigen Producers aus Cornwall auf UTM-Records. Und mit der wird die Volume gleich mal auf rechts gedreht, denn „High Volume“ – der titelgebende Track – meint’s ernst und dessen Bassline lechzt geradezu danach, mit ordentlich DB in die Gehörgänge gepresst zu werden. Apropos an der Lautstärke kurbeln. „Crank“, der Opener der Single ist ein ebenso fieser Stepper, der uns mit seinen JumpUp-Scratches mächtig in den Schwitzkasten nimmt. Der dritte Song „Treatment“ cruncht dagegen etwas gemäßigter vor sich hin und markiert den Abschluss des Releases, welchem ein Sound inne wohnt, mit dem man Subrix bis dato möglicherweise noch nicht so sehr assoziierte.

Attentive followers will not have missed Subrix’s two wonderful bootlegs at the end of December. Now the debut single of the busy producer from Cornwall follows on UTM-Records. And with that, the volume is immediately turned to the right, because “High Volume” – the title track of the release – is serious and its bassline is just longing to be pressed into the auditory canals with a good amount of DB. Speaking of cranking up the volume. “Crank”, the opener of the single, is an equally nasty stepper, which puts us in a headlock with ist Jump-Up scratches. The third song “Treatment”, on the other hand, crunches along a little more moderately and marks the end of the release, which has a sound that Subrix may not have been associated with so much up to now.

Rolling into 2023 like a flying Delorean, we start the year with the grand unveiling of our 1st ever compilation album.

Over the past few months we have been pondering how to go about this with one aim in mind. How do we showcase the very best of what we have done the
past few years while also giving you a taster of the future?

The answer well we literally could not leave a single track or release out, as there was just way too much original music we have thrown out into the
Neurofunk `Slappersphere` to even contemplate missing just 1 track that has graced the labels catalogue.

So here it is, every single track from the Almighty Beast right up to the latest dancefloor destroying Here 2 Invade. and everything in between with some of the most talented and inspirational producers from around the world we have had the pleasure to work with, such as Resurgence, Mbee, Scalez, Kaizen Flow, Surgence, Binary, Transforma and of course the co-owner of the label Traced.

As if that was not enough, 3 newer talents that we had discovered In 2022 make their debut on the label before we see them all release individually in the near future.

We introduce to you, UK artists `Bad Ace` & `The Fi5th` and our first Northern Ireland producer onboard with us `Avoider` who more recently has come off 2 huge back to back releases on Dirtbox Recordings & Abducted in the past few months.

`Bad Ace drops one of the hardest and nastiest Neuro tracks to date on the label. “Reign” The hieroglyphical and egyptian sounds echo throughout a building of drums and bass on this one. Enough to shake any pyramid to its
core. and crumble any mummy to dust. Its about time we brought some balls to wall slappers for you lot and this does not disappoint.

`The Fi5th` debuts with a very funky number thats been doing the sounds.
“Jump Funk” this one takes so many musical elements from multiple genres its hard to pin point what will happen next. But you can be assured this little groover takes you straight to the dancefloor every time its heard.

And finally `Avoider` brings out a track with a hugely fitting name `Piston` which sounds as though it would literally power a car itself let alone a whole rave full of gurning Neuro lovers. Avoider has a very eclectic sound so much different than anyone else and we love it because it crosses over so well
from Neuro to almost every other style of DNB you want it to fit with.

A name we thought only fitting to give this humongous project could only be “Chapter I” . It's our first instalment of our history and one we will be building on for many years to come. Its a story of the punk side of Drum & Bass and what both Lee UHF & Traced see in terms of a vision of what a story within Neurofunk should sound like.

History will be made March 1st 2023 Chapter I opens.

2016 has been an exciting year for the act with releases on Soul Trader, Addictive Behaviour and SkankandBass, amongst others. Their music has won support from the likes of Friction, Mistajam and Calyx & Teebee.

Data 3 also enjoyed their first festival season this year with sets at Kendal Calling, Bearded Theory, Bestival, Reading and Glastonbury.
