Introducing ‘Insanity’: one of the most highly fused and emotionally hard-hitting EPs ever to be delivered on Korsakov Music to date. An intense collaboration between the label bossman AL/SO and Sovryn (the young king previously known as Barely Royal) comprising powerful elements of rock, bass and good old-fashioned dancefloor, each of these three cuts stirs up something deep within… And they come from a very special place.

‘Fly’ was written by AL/SO during a very challenging and dark time in his life 10 years ago. Returning to it with good friend Sovryn (who introduced his new alias on Korsakov Music just weeks ago) and the talented souls of Tom Vernon and Marianna Ray, the end result is an emotional juggernaut that sizzles with urgency and feeling. This isn’t a banger. This isn’t a DJ weapon. This is a pure thoroughbred song that cuts through both the mix and heartstrings like a tungsten-tipped plectrum.

It’s backed by two more incendiary missives, both written with the same emotional pull and urgency between both acts: the halftime heaving ‘Insanity’ features more incredible guitar work from Tom Vernon and the frontmanship of Anjuna-approved Gid Sedgwick captures the tension of these turbulent 2020s with ferocity and fire. Last but not least ‘Torment’ brings this bounty together with peaktime energy. The bruiser you’ve been looking for all lockdown, this grand finale lives up to its name with every dynamic twist and turn from raging turbine tech to slamming 4x4s midway.

The fusion. The tension. The realness. This is the sound of drum & bass in 2021, things are about to get emotional.

Memtrix is a name quickly growing to the forefront of drum & bass, impressing fans around the world with his impeccable and diverse productions. One of the few artists who boasts being able to record every single instrument used in his tracks, there is no doubting that Memtrix’s success is only just beginning. Following his most recent release ‘Of The Ice/Blood Run’, Memtrix returns to the mighty Viper with ‘Dare Me/Oxidate’.

‘Dare Me’ is instantly recognizable as a Memtrix track with incredibly intelligent and interesting sound design from the get-go. Haunting vocals float amongst a wide array of rousing noises, creating an atmosphere that is simultaneously eerie and energetic.

The other side of the single, ‘Oxidate’, is a much more menacing track, with a cinematic ambiance that is foreboding and sinister. Dark synths enter the mix amidst the haunting atmosphere, injecting a nefarious energy into the tune while spooky vocal samples add to the sci-fi/horror vibe of the track.

Intelligent, engaging sound design has become synonymous with the producer’s name, and this release is no exception. Flawlessly fusing dark, ominous sound design into such high-energy, thoughtful production is no easy feat, but Memtrix continues to break the mould with each release, proving that he is a welcome addition to the Viper family.
