Smelting the ruffest parts of 2-step, acid and ragga into his own sick stew, Danny Scrilla makes a Sneaker Social debut in finest style. Transmitting out of Munich with a track record reaching back to the late 00s, Scrilla has proven himself to be as versatile as he is heavy-hitting, twisting up all manner of swaggering styles in pursuit of fresh heat.

The raw intensity of the MC toasting all over ‘Dupes’ can’t be ignored, but behind his taut cries bubble some seriously deft garage beats and sprightly specks of tweaked-out 303. It’s infectious to the last, perfectly priming your joints for the further dread-step devastation of ‘Disorganize’. With 10 tonnes of bass in tow and some edgy synth stabs darting around the beat, it comes on as though Tube Jerk and Horsepower started duking it out in the dance. That leaves it to ‘Real’ to clean up the mess with a right rotter which imagines the scenes if Landstrumm had released on Ghost. And yes, the results are as good as that proposition sounds on paper.

The second producer on this project to get his debut 1Forty release is On1. LOCKT (1Forty Founder) met the Birmingham born producer at Rinse FM where the two were both appearing on Marcus Nasty’s show. From then On1 kept in touch sending promos and once he had something that seemed a good fit for the label a demo ensued which was accepted at the first time of asking. ‘Ris Key’ takes inspiration from early Grime instrumentals, focusing on nostalgic sounds whilst creating space within the track to create more emphasis for the MC on sets.

On1 has begun to make a name for himself in the UKG scene over the past year due to his unique and moody productions. Taking a lot of inspiration from the likes of El-B, Zed Bias and Skream in the period where UK Garage was progressively getting darker and in turn creating dubstep. Five years after he started taking producing much more seriously he’s now supported two out of the three as well as Plastician who you could argue was amongst that transition, and Zed has supported his productions along with other tastemakers such as Conducta and Jossy Mitsu.

Focusing a lot on self releases and even vinyl releases, On1 the London based producer has released on a lot the most renowned UKG labels in the underground such as Gather, Downplay and Strictly Flava linking up with the likes of other 1Forty featured artists Shantie, Dizzle Kid and Kobe JT as well as ZeroFG and Soundboy Cookie who are also making strong moves in the scene right now. The end of 2020 see’s On1 making his debut release on 1Forty to end the year with a bang.
