These 3 mixes all feature mainly instrumental tracks on the jazzier side of ska. Lots from the skatalites/top deck era but also many others and all absolutely banging!
Mixed (badly!) back in the 90's by me, live from vinyl/tape's/cd's.
Photo's were all taken from a moving car during a record buying trip to Jamaica 30 years ago.

I was going to include this track on the soon to be released, next album: 'AN AUTOMATED PROCESS' but it didn't really sit too well with the other tracks as it sounds so different. This is because every sound is recorded from my beautiful 1964 STELLA valve radio. ....and not sounds from broadcast music-that would have been too normal and boring. No, these are all the 'inbetween the stations' sounds. 5 minutes and 5 seconds of crackly, warm, valvey bass, hisses, screeches and hums all recorded direct and unmastered from the speakers.

One-drop destruction! 
This is 1 of 3 versions of a track i've just recorded all loosely based on the one-drop rhythm. This is the 'dirty' version-full on with everything smashed up. There is also a sparser dub of the same track-the 'dirty dub' version. The final one is the 'clean dub' track which has more space and less audio destruction.
I had originally planned to to put them out as the same release but then i thought, 'no, you hate that kind of thing'.....which i do, so i won't.  I find that after the first 2 versions, i start to loose interest, and, even though these 3 tracks do all sound radically different to each other, i am going to put them on the next album instead.   link for LOW-(Dirty):                                                            https://submechanical.bandcamp.com/track/low-dirty

Interesting back story with this track......well, not really that interesting-I didn't record it while parachuting over the niagra falls or anything like that. No.
This one originally started as a 13 minute beatless, ambient, sort of track-i wanted to do something with just pure vacuum tube noise. So i did that but then tried adding some beats which sounded better so i worked on that for ages before realising it was far too long. So i split it into 2 tracks and reworked and recorded both of them ('MSN 1' and 'MSN 2'-which will both be on the next album). But I still had no ambient track so i took elements from both of MSN 1 and 2 and made a beatless version which is what we have here -'MSN PURE'.
