With deep and diverse musical roots sourcing from more than half a lifetime as a crate digger, drummer, and scholar of music culture, Subrhythmic (Skylar Hardenbrook) brings a distinctive approach to the table, drawing influences from nearly every genre in the musical spectrum.

Originally created during teenage years in 2005 as a production alias, the Subrhythmic project has entailed casual beatmaking and the namesake of a long-running YouTube channel dedicated to vinyl culture, musical obscurities, and sampling. Later progressing to behind the decks, it still equally reflects inspiration from a life dedicated to the discovery of music.

On the electronic front, Subrhythmic's sound falls in a hybrid area that pulls from the deep atmospheres of dub, swinging grooves of garage, driving nature of techno, and the crisp percussion and hypnotic elements of minimal -- with the occasional breakbeat or electro thrown in for good measure.

Elsewhere, Skylar's vinyl library is home to more than 8,000 records spanning hip-hop, soul, jazz, psychedelia, and rare grooves to keep the listener's ears wondering. A perennial crate digger, he hits the field at least once a week in search of new sounds to collect and share.
