Shmigi is the diverse DJ act of Micheal Jansen van Vuuren. Playing styles like techno/psytech/zenonesque/progressive trance/full-on and psychedelic. Born and raised in South Africa he found a love for the psychedelic scene back in 2012 where he attended his first trance party (Groovy Troopers - Celestial Beings). Since then his love for the scene has grown tremendously and he started to go to more and more open air festivals. He also has a BIG love for seeing parties unfold from scratch thus he started working at events as stage manager, setup crew and volunteers manager. After attending a number of productions he started to DJ with his best mate Janco van der Wateren aka Janx, who is his mentor and teacher. Together they mixed tunes in his wendy house in his back garden and slowly, but surely refined their different styles.

Coming from a musical background due to his father playing in a rock band Shmigi also knows his way around sound and setting up of equipment.

Jack discovered psytrance in 2013, which changed his world overnight. Once hooked, the passion took him all over the world, spending many summers on the European circuit and winters in Goa.. The birthplace of Psytrance, Giving inspiration and birth to his Artist name ‘GoaJack’ 

Over the years, Jack has been promoting and working with parties such as ‘5D Collective’ epic week long parties deep in the Welsh valleys UK and got involved with triplicity festival in the early days

After years of exploring the many psytrance flavours, His high energy style focused around 148-155 BPM, which defines a clear indication of a keen ear Only starting his DJ career back in 2020 over the lockdown period, Jacks made a massive statement with his sets, already traveling the continent with dream bookings, The infamous ’Mo:Dem Festival’ in Croatia,  the mighty ‘Shiva Valley’ and ‘Hilltop - Jungle Calling’ in Goa, India, alongside many UK festivals and Club events. 

Releasing his VA - BagDaddy back in 2023 with some seriously killer music from just a few of the many friends he’s made on the travels.
Jack is currently working on a new Va, which will be out 2025 

Recently joined the the hunab ku records family as a dj
