"Brighton based Hip Hop collective The Menagerie drop their first new record in eight years! 

Originally comprised of producer Tom Caruana (Wu-Tang vs Beatles) and DJ Nick Maxwell, alongside emcees Dr Syntax (Foreign Beggars/Mouse Outfit) and Professor Elemental (Fighting Trousers/Cup of Brown Joy), The Menagerie's last release was 2005's Wild Kingdom. 

After an eight year whirlwind of shows, solo projects and underground success, the team has reunited, expanded, and returned to the lab to cook up Irregular Spirits, a wildly original album filled with ridiculous flows, soulful ballads, and hilariously twisted hip-hop phantasmagoria worthy of The Island of Dr. Moreau. 

Joining the collective on this eccentric and eclectic project are Dizraeli (Dizraeli & The Small Gods), Longusto (Too Big to Play), Koaste (Black Grass/Kormac), Baba Brinkman (Rap Guide to Evolution), Jon Clark (Special School), Teej (Boiler Room Collective), Simon Mole (Mole & Iris/Chill Pill), Vecks (Ramblers Association/Genius Squad) and Sadie Jemmett (The Blacksmith's Girl), each adding a unique and indispensable flavour to the audio banquet; where enormous boom-bap bangers rub shoulders with excursions into the surreal outer reaches of the mind. 

The album was masterminded by the dusty beats genius of Tom Caruana, who is most famous for his 2010 Beatles vs Wu Tang album. It earned him thousands of downloads from eager fans and the admiration of Wu Tang's Raekwon, turning Tom into a cult Internet sensation. "

Alex Ba. iLLBiLLY HiTEC toured the world and played all major fes:vals in Europe and beyond. He collaborated with ar:sts like Cecile, Brother Culture, Zion Train, Dubma:x, SEEED, Dactah Chando, Rob Smith, La Fanfare En Petard, JStar, Lengualerta, No Te Va Gustar, Karamelo Santo, Promoe (Looptroop) and many more...
Now Alex teamed up the Japanese singer Yugo Taguchi, who is currently living in Berlin. Together they started to explore the combina:on of cumbia and reggae in a new genre of cumbia dub.
„Journey V. Yugo Taguchi and Of Tropique“ is the first out of seven songs from an upcoming EP, that was produced in a collabora:on of Japanese and La:n American ar:sts. It ́s a relaxed groove with a fusion of tradi:onal Japanese singing and rap, typical La:n American sounds and a clarinet played by the experimental Cumbia musician Teppei Kondo from Of Tropique. Ewart Beckord, aka U-Roy nous a quittés le 17 février dernier, à l'âge de 78 ans. Avec lui, c'est un immense pan de la musique jamaicaïne qui disparaît. Actif depuis le début des années 1960, celui qui a popularisé le fait de parler sur une rythmique (faire le deejay ou toaster) d'abord en sound system puis en studio, a une carrière qui embrasse quasiment tous les styles du reggae et de ses ramifications : rocksteady, roots, rub-a-dub, dub, dancehall et même hip hop. Fan absolu du toaster, le MC et selecta Sir James le cite comme l'une de ses plus grandes inspirations dont il collectionne naturellement les disques. Pour l'occasion,  il replonge dans ses bacs et passe en studio pour enregistrer une énorme tribute selection au père de tous les deejays, the Originator. 30 titres 100% vinyles qui forment un indispensable hommage à cette légende dont les innombrables hits resteront immortels tant qu'ils seront joués !
