“Resistance,” the 2nd single from Yo Kinky’s debut EP (out 02/28/21), finds the duo exploring a more delicate yet simultaneously strong and confident mood. As Wight’s vocals float above the surface, singing “Love is all we breathe” and “Swing me off my feet,” she transports the listener to places of rich yet strange beauty. “Resistance” alludes to keeping sanity amidst chaos with the warm and hopeful delivery of “Sight got back/I feel different/A flicker in the distance,” and finding contentment from the small things in life: “Everybody’s just around the corner now/Everything I need is just a short walk down the street.” This follow-up is sure to leave listeners with a sense of triumph against all odds.
