Black Teeth Radio: Bassbin Warfare With Wife Mandala (27 - 04 - 2024)

140 Budapest started out as a Facebook group back in 2016 with the aim of bringing togerther local fans of dubstep, grime, drill, bass music and other related genres. Among the members of the group, many well-known producers and upcoming talents emerged so the idea came that is would be worthwhile to show their music through this forum. At the end of 2020, Bergi and Vrama started the project with the same name ‘140 Budapest’, which eventually received 45 entries, 12 of which were added to the final material. The curator and quality controller of the copilation is the world-renowned DJ Madd whose music had been released on Tru Thoughts, Black Box, Dub-Stuy and Cosmic Bridge.
We are proud of the fact that every work phase / process of this community project (logo design, album artwork, t-shirt, mastering, etc) was done with the help of group members.
The 140 Budapest compilation starts with the tracks of nine musicians, which includes deep, meditative pieces with tribal elements, grime-influenced music and more exciting pieces. Enjoy!

Akin to a wild horde of stampeding pre-historic creatures, ‘Mammoth Dub’ produces the sonic experience of a thousand beasts emerging out of their slumber, only to be furiously invigorated with rage as fierce sub stabs command the remaining low-end capacity for themselves. Along a more claustrophobic alley, ‘Tubed’ eagerly awaits the moment you least expect, before dissolving into a monumental halftime rhythm, leaving no doubts about impending pull-up requests. Ingrained with swing, the drum patterns never cease to appeal to Dubstep aficionados throughout the EP. Heading over to ‘Kommodo Riddim’, the reversed sample effects escort a more 2-Step / UK-Garage based rhythmic display, perfectly capturing its spirit and propelling the sonic signature into modern times. Hypnotic shakers keep the time, only to be blasted away by voracious sub impulses. Not meant for the weak-hearted, the controlled movements of immersive bass will test your speakers’ low frequency cut-off. Complementing the whole release, Aki has brought a industrial-sounding ‘System Dub’ to the (turn)table, vigorously stepping forward. Ethereal echoes develop and amplify the sounds intensity as the thumping kick drum invariably drives this Dub-Stepper to a global scene of sound systems, specialising in modern Dub and Dubstep.
