Having signed exclusively to Proximity earlier in the year, North London based duo Tephra & Arkoze are back with their second release with us! They proudly present a devastating single titled The Lions Den / Pressure!  

The Lions Den certainly does what it says on the tin as this aggressive number keeps the listener well aware of their surroundings with its weighty drums, heavy bassline and growling vibes. Approach with caution! On the flip the boys feature the vocal talents of Innate MC with Pressure! A much more mellower vibe here but the tracks still ticks all the boxes when it comes to craftsmanship, nasty beats and tasty basslines! The vocals are the icing on the cake with this one!

A Critical Music charity fundraising album project for Oxfam's refugee crisis appeal, featuring tracks donated by Current Value, Enei, Foreign Concept, Halogenix, Hyroglifics, Klax, Sam Binga & Signal.  Over the last two Christmas' the team at Critical huddled together and decided that rather than let some sought after unreleased music sit idle on their hard drives they would put it to use and offer people the chance to download the tracks in return for donating something to charity. 

This year is no different and we at Critical have all gone through the vaults and put an album together, again for an important cause. We have chosen Oxfam's Refugee Crisis Appeal which is something close to all of our hearts. Millions of people have been forced to flee their homes, to run for their lives and risk the safety of their families. The AA side is from Seattle US. The mighty Quadrant join the forces with the wife Iris, to complete a deep bass vibe track, which reminded us the old Jungle days but in a modern look. True family affair!

Hailing from North Wales (UK), Substrate, is a veteran Drum and Bass Dj and Producer of over 12 years

As well as producing and Dj'ing, Substrate also owns and runs his labels 'Trichome Productions' (techy dnb)and 'Digital Dub Recordings' (old school jungle).

2014 saw Substrate sign his first major release 'Interference' to Basher of 'Ram Records' label 'Proximity Recordings' which has gained him a lot of recognition had excellent reviews.

2014 also saw Substrate become resident to 'Revolution' Drum and Bass/Jungle Events&nights held in and around North Wales.
